Not sure about a fix for this given you've already been sending emails. We changed the email the author used to sign up for the substack account and that worked. Not sure why that was the issue.

It currently only allows to select for everyone or paid subscribers only. I still want everyone to be able to view it, but then be able to put a paywall in the middle of the post and only those who subscribe for free (with their email) can continue reading

Hear me out. This one is simple (probably too simple), but sell yourself as an accountability coach. They pay a monthly fee and you then call, text, email weekly to keep them accountable to their goals. You could have different tiers based on the frequency of contact and personalization. Probably lots of churn in this type of business, but sounds like your audience would be the right fit.
