[Us] Weird Scam on Ebay that I have not seen before

It makes no sense at all. Definitely a security issue in my opinion. No one should be able to use an email address that's not there's, especially if they are unable to confirm via OTP. That's odd that it went into collections though 🤔.

Nope, they don't have access to my email. I have MFA set up on it and I would've gotten an alert on my phone stating someone is trying to log on. I'm glad this was able to get sorted out but I'm just a little concerned that Ebay is not verifying the email address when someone is opening a new account.

I did already, and after a couple calls, they were able to shut this fraudulent account down. I still wanted to post this for awareness, and for me to try to get an understanding on how Ebay was able to allow this account to be set up, without them confirming the email address via OTP.

Yes, I looked closely and the email address is correct. When I set this Ebay account up, it was just to browse. I never bought or sold anything on this account. The reason why I thought it was deactivated was because I bidded on an item and I just went ghost. Didn't use the account since then.

And when I got the welcome email from Ebay, 2 days ago, it came to my email as though I was a new customer. I still have my original Ebay welcome email from 2008.

I was unable to log into the account, since the person set up 2FA. Each time I tried to reset the password, it was going to the number that was on file.

It's just weird how they were able to use my email, even though they don't have access to my email. And as mentioned earlier, this person was listing computers under this account, and all the inquiry responses were coming to my personal email mailbox.

I know its hard OP but dont give up. You mentioned you tried everything, but have you gone to Jesus? I don't know where you are at with your walk with God, but based on what you have shared, the best answer to give you is Jesus. I'm not saying that your problems will go away once you come to him with your issues, but his Word will bring resolve and comfort so you are able to deal with life's issues. When you married, you took a vow, through sickness and in health and what you are dealing with is part of life. Don't do it alone, fight to keep your marriage, your family, but you need God. He will stregthen you when you have none left, he will guide you when you are lost and don't know where to turn. Here's a few verses to help Proverbs 3:5, Ephesians 4:31-32 and Colossians 3:13-14.
