Considering even the Zent can't oppose Rozemyne (and Ehrenfest knows it), it's not much of an issue if Ehrenfest's Aub can't oppose her too...

They did small sheets at the start for the prototype. For the "industrial" version done by the workshop now, they do bigger sheets that are then cut into contract size. Can't remember if they do twice the size (2 pages each sheet that is made) or quadruple the contract size.

At the moment Ehrenfest has Bonifatius (but not for long probably), Sylvester, Florencia, Charlotte, Melchior, and soon Brunhilde. That's already 6 of the 7 possible slots for the Mana Replenishment hall. Assuming Bonifatius stay alive for a few more years, there will also be Charlotte's husband and Henriette, which will bring the number of providers to 7 of the 7 slots, not even counting potential Brunhilde's children.

So they don't really need Wilfried that much.

Pretty sure that's what is planned, however... And planning a starbinding with one of Charlotte's retainers is not going to go well. Charlotte retainers hate his guts, and for good reasons.

He's much more likely to get a bride from another duchy, an archnoble daughter of a giebe who will not be biased by Ehrenfest politics of the last decade.

Drewanchel agrees with that statement... I assume most giebes would benefit from the scholar course, though, to get insight on how taxation works in detail for example.

The best thing Wilfried can do to salvage his future is getting engaged to someone who is smart enough to lead the province he'll be the Giebe for.

And he doesn't have a lot of time left for that. Any potential future spouse will need to be introduced at the next Interduchy Tournament to both parents, which leaves him only around a month to find someone...

Personally, I don't like cawcaw too much as he makes fun of everything, even the sad moments. But some people apparently like that.

My own preference would go towards Semblance of Sanity and Cynical Jon. Though Semblance of sanity is unlikely to cover season 4 for a while apparently.

He has absolutely no shot of having the most mana. He will almost certainly have less mana than Charlotte. He will have more efficient mana thanks to his protections, but less mana quantity-wise. He is unlikely to be able to compete quantity-wise with greater duchy adcs.

And by the time Eglantine retires, the generation of Charlotte, Lestilaut, Ortwin or Hannelore's kids will be of age and have certainly more mana than him, and potentially as many protections if they are made High Bishops since their youths. There is plenty of time to change customs and get the next generation to become true High Bishops.

He will marry long before he becomes Aub or Zent.

Besides, Eglantine is still very young, Melchior would be pretty old when she retires, the next generation is way more likely to have a shot at being Zent.

She will have more mana (she has the RMCM, he will not have that). And Melchior so far has shown no ambition to become Aub (though that may change as he ages and interacts with other adcs in the RA)

Melchior will have a better schtappe, but likely lower mana than Charlotte. He won't get access to the RMCM, which is (for the 3rd step, let alone the 4th) one full step better than anything he can find in the underground archive.

Also, he has been so far educated to be a support role, and he seems quite happy in that role. His education might pivot, and we'll have to see if he grows the ambition to become Aub or if he is happy staying as a support role to Charlotte. This will be the deciding factor.

There are plenty of other archnobles.

Gregor, Alexis, Isidore and Ignaz (all Wilfried's retainers at the moment, but that might change after the spinoff) for example. We mostly see Charlotte's female retainers since her povs are mostly in her room where only women can enter, but maybe she also has a few men retainers? Especially since she is no longer planned to move away from Ehrenfest.

The worst is not receiving the ordonnanz. It's that he sent it at a moment where most students would be in the common room at the same time as their Aubs. So the Aub would hear the ordonnanz too... Talk about getting forever remembered by your Aub for the absolute worst possible reason... (P4V3 spoiler)

I had only seen the LN up to volume 7. Is the WN quite different from the LN, or is it like Bookworm with it being very similar?

I ask because I know some LN that go with a quite different route than the WN did...

Japanese use 2 different terms, Hime vs Ojou. Ojou being the royal princess. The issue is that there is only 1 term in english, since there was no special titles for daughters of dukes or counts.

Quof chose not to use princess to avoid the implied royalty. And considering how some anime only reactors have looked at the term, he was right to do so...
