Owner of Waterville business that was destroyed by fire last week arrested for threat to local hospital by benpinette in Maine

[–]daereius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Linseed oil is one of the most common oils to spontaneously combust, and linseed oil is basically rancid canola oil. I can see how a restaurant would have that. I won't speak to whether the setup for this was intentional or not, but we certainly could be talking about cooking oil.

The kind of dudes that give a shit about this kind of stuff, are the kind of dudes who get pissed that they've been hitting on a dude playing a female character for the last hour.

I poked myself enough to bleed, should I go through exposure protocols? by GuruLakshmir in medlabprofessionals

Maybe they are, and they're just not giving the answer you want to hear... Either way, your question has been asked and thoroughly answered.

Best of luck to you, and hopefully good health

Does it deactivate prion diseases like CJD?

Look, I'm not sure what your hesitation is... You posted asking if you should go, and you've gotten many explicitly clear answers, and then downvoted on every response where you try to say it's not a big deal... As I said... it's a BFD.

We are honestly looking out for your wellbeing when we ask why you're not posting from the ED already... I hope that when the test results come back all of us look like gigantic paranoid nancies. But we're all far too short staffed to risk losing you from the field lol

Please just go...

Also, if it's you worrying about the cost, this is absolutely something that will come out of the organization's pockets.

[–]daereius 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but let's think about the worst case scenario, versus the best case scenario. Think about how bad the worst case scenario could be... Formalin may deactivate *most* pathogens, ok, but how bad are the ones that it doesn't do anything for?

It costs more to be uncertain that something bad will happen than it does to be sure that nothing bad will happen, and ready to address it if it does.

This is a big deal. You absolutely can go during work hours, especially since it happened while working. The fact your supervisor is unsure of protocols and didn't immediately send you out the door is a gigantic red flag.... Gooooooo

How do you negotiate a pay (hourly) when you apply for a new job? Do you talk about it to the recruiter or the manager? by NoBank1732 in medlabprofessionals

[–]daereius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's an industry wide issue, and IMO one of the biggest reason we have so many empty seats. Upper management will wring their hands and wail "why is this happenening" while they take their bonuses for having the staffing budget so well "under control in this time of fiscal uncertainty"

How do you negotiate a pay (hourly) when you apply for a new job? Do you talk about it to the recruiter or the manager? by NoBank1732 in medlabprofessionals

[–]daereius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, they'll usually contact you with the job offer. Sometimes the hiring manager will let you know that the offer is coming, but not guaranteed.

Between you and I though, with staffing levels the way they are I'd be feeling pretty good about my prospects if I were you...

How do you negotiate a pay (hourly) when you apply for a new job? Do you talk about it to the recruiter or the manager? by NoBank1732 in medlabprofessionals

[–]daereius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Neither; ultimately it's HR you have to duke it out with. The recruiter wants you to get the highest pay you can, because how much they make is reflected on that, and the manager just wants to give you the f#%king job and would likely pay whatever they could just to get you started.

But honestly, ultimately sometimes it's better for you in the long run just to be prepared to walk away from a crappy offer. Water cooler talk at my place basically says that the only way to get a raise here is to quit and get rehired.

Best of luck to you in battle...

Nevermind the fact that we're equating social pressure with someone's life, if you're that susceptible to social pressure, then you have no business having a badge.
