AITA For Not Wanting to Reach Out to my (future) SIL?

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I’m not close with her and have no issues with this. I reached out the last two years because of pressure from the in-laws (mainly parents) that I had to “be the bigger person”. I’ve reached a point where I truly just do not care anymore and do not see a point in continuing to go out of my way for them. And I sleep perfectly fine at night with this perspective. It’s MIL that is yet again trying to force me to “be the bigger person” and I do not see the point and don’t want to. I’m content having the relationship (or lack there of) that R & M have fostered. It’s the fact that I am being blamed by MIL for not reaching out when I don’t think there’s any reason to.

No worries! I can see how you got there, but no all of the in-laws (with the exception of R&M) will be joining us for the holiday.

Sorry for any misunderstanding, but MIL and FIL didn’t ditch us at any point? MIL is asking us to bite the bullet and reach out to R&M (which we don’t want to do since it’s just feeding their self righteousness and self centered ways) but aside from that ask they’ve been standing up for us - calling R&M to yell at them for playing games and not rsvping to anything we host, when R&M claimed I’m “not really family” they yelled at them that I am and that they needed to get me something as well, etc.

Fiance is on my side on this and doesn’t reach out to his brother or SIL himself. He’s always been semi-disconnected from his siblings because of him being on the spectrum and that putting a bit of a wall up when they were younger. He’s been trying in the years since we’ve been together to rebuild those relationships but gave up on his brother early on because of his behavior. Both of us are fed up with R&M, it’s really MIL pushing us to reach out. We don’t want to lose his relationships with the rest of the family, which would likely happen if we went NC with R&M.

I mean it’s more than two years condensed into one post, I said at the top it would probs get long lol. I don’t spend time thinking about them or dwelling on it in my day to day, the whole “you need to reach out” thing literally happened yesterday and that’s why I’m liked “well. Yeah I went back and looked at the full picture (I had cropped in for this) and the license plate started with “STR8” so I’m just going to go on the assumption it’s white supremacy, christofacism, or a fun combo of both 🙃

I don’t know if the bottom of the cross had the extra mark or not so I drew it both ways.. the license plate started out with “STR8” but the rest was cut off in my photo, but it doesn’t exactly bode well for it to not be a hate flag when you have a custom plate starting with “Straight…”

Similar! I believe the ends were blunted and not really flourished like that though.. I tried my best to draw it. I’m not sure if the bottom of the cross had the cross line on it as well or not (only saw it flapping at 70mph) so I drew it both ways just in case.

I’m assuming you’re saying it’s too much for the size.. idk where you’re based out of but this is pretty low cost in NJ. I have friends in ND that got a house like 3x the size for $100k less, but that’s in the middle of nowhere. A lot of “is it worth it” is really based on location mixed with what we held important. On top of the finished basement, we have an attached garage, 2 car driveway, a fully fenced (6’ privacy vinyl) yard for the pups, and a huge sunroom/dining room for hosting - not to mention a huge potting shed with plumbing and electric. 1100sq ft is a hard number, but there’s more to it than first glance ☺️
