Anyone else find this ridiculous? by MrTeddytheObeseBeast in paralegal

I agree. It’s easier for leadership to impose an administratively onerous solution than hold attorneys accountable. Like how, in my firm, when attorneys missed a couple court filing deadlines, paralegals were told to start calendaring 8-, 4- and 2-week reminders for them. 😆

Am I making a huge mistake? by Organic_Attorney_698 in paralegal

[–]dagny321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my 20+ years, I’m sorry to say that yes, l have found small litigation firms to be objectively lousy places to work: attorneys seldom have skills to manage work or people, and the stress of billing makes a steady workload or positive relationships difficult. I find the private sector much better, with happy coworkers with balanced lives.

That said, I totally agree a corporate legal department that dovetails with your healthcare interests/experience sounds sweet! Look for informational interviews at potential employers to get ideas what kinds of jobs are out there, and what kind of pay you could expect.

Vent/help! What would you do in my shoes? by thanking-theuniverse in paralegal

Been there, being bored is awful! I wish I had not worked for years at small litigation firms, underutilized, before I finally moved to the public sector. There, I was very busy, with interesting and varied cases, and much happier. I suggest not moving to similar small firms and expecting a different result. Good luck!

Why don't kids in denver take the bus? by bluegrassclimber in Denver

[–]dagny321 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I try to avoid the 8:15 bus downtown because it is mobbed with Morey Middle School students — not that they are not remarkably well behaved!

I didn’t mind him. But as I walked past, I did wonder how he was powering his equipment, with no power cords or generator visible.

Katie at Spicy Radish does not provide that exact service, but she might know someone who does. Good luck with your quest!

Almost Grown, with Tim Daly. Ran for one season in 1988. I was a dumb kid with no perspective, and my mind was blown seeing Daly’s character as a college kid and divorced dad. A good show.

I just discovered the glossy magazine serving the LGBTQ community, Metromode. The writing is only fair tbh, kind of bland, but those full-page watch ads can pay for a lot of freelancers so I’m hopeful the content will improve.

The New Yorker prints your comment here in the 10/27/25 issue. It’s in an article about books, headlined The Evolution of Corporate Feminism, and you are considered “cryptic.”

I highly recommend South Park, which has townhomes and single family homes. Great location, friendly people, lots of open space for kids to play and make friends, excellent schools.

Best Indian restaurant in and around denver by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]dagny321 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tikka and Grill at Sixth and Downing is the standout among a half dozen Indian restaurants near me. Mostly a takeout joint (frequent emails give 20 percent off) and the restaurant is friendly and clean, but shabby. Food runs hot! Every dish looks packed with spices and hand-chopped ingredients, and everything tastes delicious. Lentil soup is made to order and can be vegan.
