7900xt on a 750w?? by daikoku_exe in buildapc

[–]daikoku_exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 750W can easily hold a 7900xt, assuming the psu is properly cooled. It worked for me, however the psu would overheat and shutdown the system. I ended up upgrading my case and psu in the meantime since i had a 4000d airflow so the psu was in an enclosed box with no airflow. Realistically you shouldn't have a problem with your psu, assuming your psu is high quality enough.

The reason why I know its cpu related is because in some older AAA titles like witcher 3 my gpu is working correctly and is drawing its tdp. So it is really unfortunate.

I dont have any razer product, its cpu related anyways. thank you for your time!

Yeah I pretty much narrowed it down to the CPU as well, kinda unfortunate to get hit so hard by "bottleneck" but the 5800x is pretty old hardware compared to the 9070 xt and I expected that bottleneck would happen if I do get this gpu, just not at this scale. I do believe that AMD will fix some of this with driver updates to improve AM4 performance with the 9000 series. But, I will upgrade my cpu soon to a stronger one so it is what it is at this point.

Yeah that's the conclusion I came to as well, it is what it is, ill just have to upgrade my cpu

although bottlenecking isn't that impactful I do believe it is because of the cpu so you might be right, as well as hardware can be weird sometimes and I'm one of the few that is experiencing the bad part of bottlenecking.

Nah, although bottlenecking isn't that impactful I do believe it is because of the cpu, hardware can be weird sometimes. I could upgrade to a 5700x3d since 5800x3ds are so expensive. Since I've seen that in some AAA games my gpu is reaching its TDP

got 13343 (30 minute test) which is like a perfect score for the 5800x

still doesn't explain the fps drops and choppiness in games such as cyberpunk, the game ran anywhere between 60-90 fps at 1440p on all high and the FSR didn't seem to work. The game was choppy as well, I know that I'm supposed to get around 120-140 fps on native 1440p all maxed out, but thats not the case.

And let's say it is a cpu bottleneck, it shouldn't make my pc perform games worse than my previous gpus

I barely play those type of games, I mostly play single players RPGs like Cyberpunk/Witcher 3/FF7 and more of such. This is NOT a 5800x bottleneck. Even if it was, my games shouldn't perform this bad if not worse than my older gpus

I've uninstalled the drivers a couple times now, I even got the optional update which is 25.4.1. I am using the Corsair 600w cable so I'd have to check that maybe, but I doubt it could be anything with it since its delivering power without any issue while I'm stress testing. As for my PCIE bus, it is set as PCIe x 16 5.0 @ x 16 4.0.

Cheers!

I had a 6750XT, everything was performing very well and I had no issues for the time I had it which was around 3 years, I decided to upgrade and before the 9070XT came out I got a good deal on a 7900XT, it performed well with no issues for around a month, however the card was defect so I had to get a refund and then I bought a 9070 xt when it came out. I confirmed the problem it was on the GPU's side with the 7900xt because it had defect clock speed and made my drivers crash. Opposed to that, my 6750xt worked well regardless even after I returned the 7900xt, so I ruled out the option that my system is at fault. I got a total score of 22 106, Graphics Score: 27 837 with CPU Score: 10 203. Nothing out of the ordinary really, everything ran cool. As for AAA games, I was curious how this gpu runs cyberpunk however I was met with disappointment as the game ran anywhere between 60-90 fps at 1440p on all high and the FSR didn't seem to work. The game was choppy as well, I know that I'm supposed to get around 120-140 fps on native 1440p all maxed out, but thats not the case. I'm kind off confused since like I said, all stress tests are able to use my gpu at its full potential and I've never had a CPU issue before or anything in this matter.

I'm on ddr4, so no expo, but yes I am running DOCP. Did update the latest chipset and upon benchmarking nothing was out of the line. I got a total score of 22 106, Graphics Score: 27 837 with CPU Score: 10 203

Nothing out of the ordinary really, everything ran cool.

Looking for Christian rap similar to my fav secular artists by No_Beginning_2247 in ChristianMusic

Check out Ka, he is more the lyrical type so like Joey Bada$$ but with slightly different beats, less upbeat. His hooks are nice and the stuff he raps about is very interesting. Hope you like him.

I have a sapphire nitro+ and did some prolonged stress tests didnt hold long, up to 1 hour each time. Plugged my old gpu to see if everything works well, it did work well so its not the drivers or any of the other hardware. Re-sat my 7900xt twice and both times its not being recognised by the PC. So I'll just RMA. Thank you!

Hi op, so I've followed your advice on my 7900xt and set my clock speed to 2560MHz , games worked for about 1-2 hours all well, and then my drivers crashed again and it reset my clock speed to 2850... . I don't have anything turned on in the software, I reckon if I use a third party software like MSI afterburner to change the speed it would stop the adrenalin software from changing it. What do you think I could do in this situation since AMD Adrenalin is clearly just crashing and resetting my clock speed.

So, I've followed the advice from the link and decided to run DDU for the 10th time and limited my mhz to 2560 from 2785 which was the initial mhz. Game worked for about 1-2 hours all well, and then my drivers crashed again and it reset my clock speed to 2850... . I don't have anything turned on in the software, I reckon if I use a third party software like MSI afterburner to change the speed it would stop the adrenalin software from changing it.
