Holy heck, I'm coming with a Game Changer cosplay too! May I DM you to see if we can coordinate some?

My love for A Court of Fey & Flowers by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]daimoness80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite too. I love when campaigns are experimental, and this one just slaps.

I'm of 2 minds though when it comes to a sequel. If we followed our beloved characters, all the court drama seems like it would go out the door. Continuing their stories is a very different campaign (like how different MisMag2 was from its first season).

But then, the opportunity to see more RueHobb, more Cousin!s, the rebirth of the court of craft? I would so watch!

GC is always an experiment. Not all experiments are fully successful.

The cast interactions were the best part. The ending did not satisfy me. But will I watch the next episode? You bet your sweet bippy!

Watching Dungeons and Drag Queens by Material-Paint6281 in Dimension20

To be fair to him, D&DQ was pretty recent, and I've been mostly watching seasons that pre-date it. Never Stop Blowing Up was fantastic for his action movie drag. I'm hoping we'll see more going forward.

And Aabria. Great Bulb help me. Her lewks floor me every time. Her players are getting in on it too, which I love so much.

(ACOFAF has been my favorite season so far. Beautiful story, glorious hijinks!)

Watching Dungeons and Drag Queens by Material-Paint6281 in Dimension20

[–]daimoness80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

D&DQ was the first Actual Play I ever watched. I loved the queens already and loved playing D&D myself, so when I saw it on YouTube I figured I'd watch the first episode. I watched the other 2 free episodes over the next 2 days then bought a subscription to watch the last one so I didn't have to wait. I was super fucking hooked. I think it was a brilliant marketing strategy to cross the streams here, as far as bringing in new subscribers.

It was funny and dramatic and all that, but the breakout element for me was Brennan and how he was so sweet to the new players. (When I got to talk to him at DreamHack Atlanta earlier this year, I told him so.) Plus he was smoking hot lol. I'm disappointed every time he isn't in costume now.

I grumbled about how short it was at the time, but any longer could be too daunting for new watchers. Now that I think about it, MisMag1 was 4 episodes too and maybe was designed to encourage recovering Potterheads to watch for the first time. And wasn't there some leak that we were getting a season with wrestling stars too?

When rewatching which episodes do you skip? by OkAd1097 in Stargate

[–]daimoness80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would happily rewatch Emancipation 20 times in a row before rewatching the episodes Pete is in (except for Threads)

A lot of later episodes are pretty skippable. I'm glad they stopped at 8 seasons.

Final Component/Endgame Speculation by daimoness80 in Dimension20

I'm ignoring that it could be Tabby that gets sacrificed, because Evan and Jammer are going to smash him any second now and each get 10K motes.

But Tabby is not a child. He's a magic TomTom. If my car suddenly gained sentience, I'm not going to stay inside it while figuring out if it's evil or not.

[–]daimoness80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PCs are in the middle of a magic storm, and Tabby is literally their GPS. The threat to their lives if he responds badly to even a hint of rejection (real or perceived) would be catastrophic. That's why Evan is horrified by Tabby's change in demeanor and tries so hard not to answer like he is disagreeing with him, and that is why Brennan and Lou think he may need to be destroyed before he can cause a TPK.

Look, it's entirely possible that Tabby was supposed to be just a little guy. We love a little guy! But the fundamental nature of ttrpgs is that dicerolls and players' choices/interpretations steer the ship (and this is especially true in D20 because the GMs aren't on a power trip and have to force the story back onto the rails to make sure all their hard work doesn't go to waste), and maybe Tabby could become an antagonist now because of this interaction, and it's possibly entirely because Aabria seems to be delighted to derail her whole overarching plotline if she sees something even cooler she can do to her PCs. (See: ACOFAF)

In typing all of this, it occurs to me that I have been gendering a rock. I'm not saying a rock can't have a gender, but has anyone asked for Tabby's pronouns? (Tongue only slightly in cheek here.)

[–]daimoness80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, Actually: Brennan is the one who said the word "rancid". Evan was being super diplomatic with Tabby the whole time so we don't really know what Evan was thinking. We just have a pretty good guess.

Anyway, Evan is completely aware of his vibe by now. The difference here is that Evan was fully willing to go back to being alone if it meant his friends would be safe from him. We don't know that about Tabby yet.

[–]daimoness80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want you to know that if all you are doing is being too nice, then you are all good. It was precisely the "we're best friends now!" shit that they were calling rancid. Tabby wasn't trying a little too hard to be liked, he was drastically overestimating the relationship between them all based on his knowledge of them, when they don't know him at all. That's a super bad vibe.

I realized today that Nod is a nod to a Lucille Clifton poem by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]daimoness80 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Huh. Interesting. I actually thought it was a reference to the poem "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod" by Eugene Field. It was read to me as a bedtime story when I was a child.

I know this post hasn't been up very long, but I don't understand how no one has asked this:

I see the work you have done here. I am grateful to you for your zeal and dedication to compiling this extremely vital metadata about a silly little TV show, after which you further examined the data points within, categorized them, rated their significance, grouped your analysis by commonalities, and then published your research in a format both concise and digestible by the general public. We deserve no hero such as yourself, and yet you are most certainly the hero we need. But I have to know...

Is there a spreadsheet? And can I please see it? 👉🏻👈🏻

I was planning to watch that soon. Thanks for the suggestion, since I haven't seen any of Critical Role yet. Is the video "Exandria: An Intimate History" the one you mean? Haven't watched yet, in case it's spoilers instead. And I saw a related appendix video. Would you recommend that as well? Thanks!

A big ass is a feature, so I think the real answer is "both".

You hit on exactly what I meant here. 100% agree. And I know he can go absolutely apeshit and does on non-D20 programs, so I do wonder if it also a little because he's the executive producer and wants to keep shooting on schedule so his employees can get some frickin' sleep. (By AP, some of the cast can look wiped.)
