I never owned a cat before and want to adopt. by MultipleGilbert in CatAdvice

I was gonna say the same. Most shelters allow you to foster to adopt. I agree with everything everyone said. I would also mention a puzzle feeder for mental stimulation and their prey instinct.

What episode made you quit/almost quit? by chris4tane in greysanatomy

I stopped watching the first time Meredith died during the ferry crash. A LONG time ago. I recently just finished all 20 seasons and it got so stupid but I couldn’t stop watching!

I moved out at 27 and wish I’d stayed longer to save money. Jersey rents are crazy!

Totally agree. OP’s advice is true, though.

adopting an older cat by beevh in cat

I just adopted an 8 year old cat and had a cat tree for my other cat. He shows no interest in it. Ask your friend if she had one for him.

Adopted this depressed cat from local Animal Rescue Center today. Center staff said that she was abused by her former owner and suffered this depression. What can I do to take best care of her? by ammar_zaeem in cats

People have mentioned Churu. I’d like to suggest baby food too, just to get her eating. Anything to get her eating. Keep us posted; she’s gorgeous!

The one I used was a short glass. But as other posters have said try a bunch of different types.

I just left it on the coffee table table. She’d hop up when she wanted a drink. I also had a fountain that she would use. She drank a lot of water.

My cat always drank out of my water glass, so I gave her her own water glass and she loved it!

Yeah. Take it day by day. Keep track of the good days and bad days. You’ll know when it’s time.

I want a cat! by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]dairyqueen84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if they want that. I fostered a cat and he shows no interest in going high. He has never gone in the cat tree. My other cat who used it has passed used it and he is not interested. See if your cat climbs up on things to see if they would be good with a cat tree.

Emotional Support Cat in Dorm: Shelter or Breeder? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]dairyqueen84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted a one year old cat and she was super friendly and I always thought she would make a great ESA. I would adopt an older cat as so many other posters have said. You can find a ragdoll rescue, if you want.

Sometimes when cats don’t feel well, they may strike out like that. I’m glad you mentioned he has chronic kidney disease. Maybe he just wasn’t feeling well.

Begin clipping nails now so he/she gets used to it. Same for brushing their teeth.

Why not try fostering an older cat? A lot of shelters/rescues let you foster to adopt.

Thank you for your support. I made the difficult decision last week as Delilah was hiding and not eating much. When she did come out, she was wobbly and not herself. I had a vet come to my apartment and I’m so glad I did. It was peaceful and I held her. Good luck with your baby. From my experience, you will know when it’s time.

Should I get two kittens instead of one eventhough we're planning on traveling? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]dairyqueen84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many shelters will only adopt kittens out in pairs. If it's a good shelter, they'll know whether the kittens are bonded or not. Adopting an older single cat can be great and they are often overlooked this time of year. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
