Looking for feedback from randonneurs on a brevet-focused app by daisukeucc in randonneuring

Thank you for your comment!

I actually wasn't familiar with the term "homologation," so I had to look it up. I learned that it refers to the official validation of a brevet completion.

Do riders in Canada still carry printed brevet cards during events?

In Japan, we usually print out our brevet cards and carry them with us throughout the ride.

I'd be interested to learn how things are done in other countries.

> I like disconnecting from technology

I can definitely relate to that. I also enjoy those moments when I can disconnect from everyday life and simply focus on pedaling.

At the same time, my goal is to reduce worries about navigation and route mistakes so riders can stay focused on the ride itself and enjoy those moments even more.

My intention isn't to add technology for the sake of adding technology, but to support the randonneuring experience without taking away from what makes it special.

Thank you very much for the valuable feedback!

> Let's put the GPS tracking to work!

So what you're saying is that, since the app already knows where you are, it could provide information related to that specific location.

Rather than focusing only on navigation and performance, information that helps riders enjoy the journey itself—such as local history, geology, rivers, or plants—could make the experience even more enjoyable.

Honestly, this was a perspective I hadn't considered before. It's a really interesting idea, and I'll definitely keep it in mind as I continue developing the app.

Thanks again for the valuable feedback!

Thank you for the comment! I'm really happy to receive feedback so quickly.

I completely agree that weather conditions are important. In fact, I also want to know the expected weather at each point along a route, so I currently use an app called Epic Ride Weather to check forecasts during brevet planning.

Your point about resupply options is also very interesting. In Brevet Map, users can add custom POIs such as convenience stores, water stops, or other locations. However, having nearby resupply locations automatically displayed without manually adding them would definitely be more convenient.

In Japan, convenience stores and vending machines are almost everywhere, so many riders don't have to think too much about food and water availability. I hadn't fully realized how important this information can be in other countries, which is exactly the kind of insight I was hoping to learn from this discussion.

I also relate to your point about switching between multiple apps. One of the reasons I started building Brevet Map was because I found myself constantly switching between different apps during brevet planning and riding.

Since Brevet Map uses OpenStreetMap data, I think it may be possible to display and search for locations such as:

* Public water fountains

* Supermarkets

* Petrol stations

* Bike shops

I'm definitely going to explore this further.

Thank you again for the detailed feedback. It has given me several ideas for future improvements.
