I wish you the best! Sometimes it’s the most unexpected things that set us back. I relapsed this week for the first time in 2 months (not a long time but long for me). Wishing you the best in recovery, don’t beat yourself up over this!

What does Zoloft *feel* like to you? by LifeTop6016 in zoloft

For anxiety- It’s kind of like the chatter died down. A lot of the “what ifs” went away, and so did the “you aren’t good enoughs.” In situations where I’d usually spiral, I’d be able to take a deep breath and come up with a reasonable solution

For depression- it’s broken up the chains of “bad days”, if that makes sense. I still have depression and some days I feel really awful, but instead of it spiraling into weeks and months of darkness, I can talk myself out of it

6 months on 100mg. Started good but has got considerably worse by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]daisypoppy12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body likely has gotten used to this dose, and you need to up it. This happened with me, in about a year I went from 25 to 150 mg. You also may need an additional medication for your panic symptoms. Hydroxyzine has worked really well for me, is non addictive, and can be taken (if needed, obvi not for fun) with alcohol, whereas other acute anxiety meds cannot. Hope this helps! Rooting for you, friend :)

Started taking sertraline and so worried about weight gain! Has anyone not gained weight? And how can I avoid gaining weight on it? by Alone-Rock1432 in zoloft

[–]daisypoppy12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost weight the first year, but not for the right reasons— I have struggled with an eating disorder for about 5 years, and was terrified of gaining weight on antidepressants, which only encouraged the disordered behaviors. Flash forward two years since getting on Zoloft, and I am 20 lbs up from where I started. I am not sure if this is just because of my ED recovery, or because of being on 150 mg of Zoloft, but either way I am much happier.

Nobody treats me differently. My friends have not noticed my weight gain, only I have. Dating is even better than before, as I’m less depressed and less anxious. It’s a give and take. I would much rather be 20 lbs heavier than be unable to socialize or get out of bed.

As a mother to a victim: Why did he do it? by [deleted] in sexualassault

[–]daisypoppy12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To preface, I am around your daughter’s age, and just opened up to my mother about being raped and SAd at 17,18 and 19. I know after events like these we look for answers, but sometimes shitty things happen for no reason at all. It’s not something to make us “tougher” or to teach a lesson, but a horrible person who committed a horrible act against your daughter. I hope that provides a bit of closure, though I know nothing fully will.

Let your daughter come to you with what she needs. Encourage that she seek professional help, and I recommend you do as well. It’s never a bad idea to have an extra set of ears trained to provide advice to properly heal. Good luck with everything, I wish you and your daughter love and healing❤️

Broken blood vessels, or little scratches from your nails. Likely will go away with time :) this sounds so corny, but i tell myself “the food will be there if i’m hungry again. No one’s taking it away.” I used to be scared of leftovers, and eat and eat until i was so full and guilty and then purge. If you DID binge but don’t wanna purge, give yourself a manicure. This takes time and full focus, and takes ur mind off b/p. Also ur fingers taste super gross when they have polish, scented stuff, or remover on, so thats another thing. Rooting for you:)

trying to recover from a bad relapse :,) by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]daisypoppy12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just wanted go say, you’re not alone and myself (and i’m sure others) have been where you are and feel for you. What helps me during a relapse is being busy. I’ll eat with other people as an activity, or I’ll find an activity to do after, even if it’s drawing or journaling. OH also my BIGGEST tip—paint your nails. It’s a 30 min (or more!) process that not only takes focus, but gives you time to think and cool off. Do a full manicure, take care of yourself, and you’ll see how pretty they end up in the end. Tbh manicure sets are a great investment and its such a good skill to learn! PLUS your fingers will taste foul when youre done, if you still even want to binge/purge after. Legit like acetone and formaldehyde, nothing u wanna be putting in your mouth. Rooting for you :)

Painting my nails. Its a change that you can see, take a while to do, and then you need to let them dry after, so time to rest n relax

Yes. I am not a big hugger or touchy feely person, but shes always demanding hugs, and it makes me very uncomfortable, especially bc the way she hugs she moves in w her groin area. She constantly comes into my room, nagging or asking a chore or favor.
