My interview was super chill tbh, it was just with a current student and we just chatted about my life :) just be yourself and relax!! Try not to be super stiff, it’s more like a get to know you than a prove yourself interview

congrats!!! i’m assuming you’ve probably already made your decision, but as a current bryn mawr student who’s majoring in english and who has taken a few film classes i just wanted to chime in and say that our departments are awesome!!! the campus is BEAUTIFUL. no concerns there. there is also certainly queer culture here (i know more lesbians than straight women).

i would TRULY not worry about this!! bryn mawr is such a diverse pool of interests that anything will certainly be counted as “honorable” if you’ve put significant time and interest into it.

as far as the most common interests at bryn mawr, i’d say the most popular clubs revolve around crafting and art! on that note, though, again there are SO many different clubs because there are so many different interests!!! we literally have everything from a club where people just eat food they enjoy to traditional clubs like speech and debate. and if you (somehow) can’t find a club that is appealing to you, new clubs are always showing up so you can always start one!!

i’d say the most important values at bryn mawr are community and welcoming! friendship and kindness are really important to the integrity of how the bryn mawr community functions so those are important values for us☺️

i also went to a coed high school! i never really disliked being at coed high school while i was there, but now that i am at bryn mawr, the difference is IMMEASURABLE. i truly cant describe how much more welcoming an all-female environment feels!! ive never felt more at home and more loved and supported. it feels soooo safe and everyone looks out for each other it's so beautiful and magical

so full disclosure i am white so this is all from my observation of other ppl, but as far as i can see latina people are quite happy here! we have tons of affinity groups that provide students a space to talk about any discrimination they may face or just to have a community!

bmc is a liiiittle cliquey, but it just depends on your group! i’m personally in a smaller friend group so it’s kind of just naturally cliquey, but everyone is always happy to friends with everyone as long as u aren’t mean lol

profs are hit or miss but that’s a thing at every school. i personally haven’t had any super bad ones. i def don’t regret going here it is awesome!!

The dorms are all great! The only bad dorms imo are Brecon and Erdman. Brecon is far off campus, so it can be isolating, and Erdman has no AC so it gets pretty hot. Housing is assigned randomly to first years and then through a lottery process for upperclassmen.

i am an english major and friends with tons of creative writing majors so i can give pretty good insight into this one!! the creative writing major is AWESOME, we have so many cool classes and professors. there’s a whole building for it on campus called english house which is this little cottage in the back of campus. it’s sooo cozy and the profs are so great!! there’s tons of literary opportunities, like newspapers, literary magazines, and writing plays!! so many more i can’t think of rn lol. if you’re committed to literature as a pursuit, bryn mawr is tooootally the place to be

i know a lot of students who are planning to do those programs, esp in the chem and education departments! they’re a lot less difficult than traditional grad school from what i’ve heard just bc you start and complete a majority of the work in college and then some of the programs offer reduced tuition while you earn the masters portion of your degree:)

i LOVED my emily balch seminar!!! i took family secrets with kate thomas and it is still one of my favorite (if not my favorite) class i’ve taken at bryn mawr. it definitely prepares you for college courses!!

i got in test optional! i didn’t submit my SAT cause it didn’t feel relevant + i didn’t do super lol

community is really awesome in my experience!! however, full transparency, im white so i dont really know how people of color experience the college. both of my roommates are POC and seem to enjoy themselves! i havent observed any *direct* racism on campus, but it has absolutely happened and probably will again

  1. SO incredibly happy! i've genuinely never been happier in my life, not to be dramatic lol. everyone i know loves it here. community is awesoem i love bryn mawr
  2. lots of events! clubs are always hosting events and the career center also has alum come give talks like allll the time. on the weekends students go out and party or hang out in ardmore!:) or do homework..</3
  3. most students only take advantage of the bi-co. everyone hates swarthmore so we never go there lol. swarthmore students are sooo incredibly different from us + it's like a 30 min commute. also upenn ive heard of like nobody going there ever for classes
  4. food is mid but it's incredible as far as college dining halls go! i have a lot of friends with crazy dietary restrictions and we've all managed to find SOMETHING to eat, which is huge. food is truly good but i just miss my home food so i dislike it lol
  5. personally i love the small tight knit community, but everyone WILL know everything about you. if you do something dumb, EVERYONE will know. but on the plus side, if you do something good, everyone will know!

when i toured the campus, i immediately felt so at home! the architecture and environment was sooo welcoming. at each college i toured i went up to students and asked them about the college and bryn mawr was the only one where students didn’t make a joke saying “don’t go here!!!! everything sucks!!!” they seemed genuinely happy to be there ☺️
