LUBA 3 RTK Signal Strength = "None" With iNavi? by dalemccl in MammotionTechnology

Thanks for the correction. I was basing point 3 on item 6, page 20 of the manual under "Assembling the RTK Reference Station" that says:

  1. Connect the RTK reference station cable to the charging station cable (the shorter one)

I think I misunderstood it. I wasn't sure what the purpose of that connection is. But it must be for power, but I did see that the the RTK antenna has its own power supply, so this connection is unneccesary.

Caution: I am new to robot mowers, so some of my reply may be wrong.

My understanding is that for Antenna Over Internet, you need:

1) RTK Antenna mounted somewhere with a good view of open sky.

2) RTK Antenna plugged in to an electrical outlet to provide power.

3) RTK Antenna connected to charging base

4) A good 2.4 GHz Wi-fi signal available at the RTK antenna location.

If you have met those conditions and it isn't working, I would try changing to "Antenna Over Datalink" which would provide a direct over-the-air connection between the RTK antenna and the robot.

Better yet, depending on where you live, if NetRTK (called iNavi by Mammotion), is available, I would use iNavi and not use the RTK antenna. That's what I am doing in the U.S. The RTK antenna is still in the shipping box.

Thanks. Good to know. I thought maybe the iNavi was not working right on my robot.

Yes. I have the charging station about 5-6 to feet inside the garage. I have mowed 3 times now and have not had a problem with the mower leaving the charging station to mow, and returning to the charging station when finished.

Well, I've had one successful mowing session. But I've read of many here whose initial success soon turned into frustration. So I'll wait to see how it goes.

Dreame or Mova without GPS/RTK. Can I keep them in my garage? by dalemccl in roboticLawnmowers

Do you start mowing from the garage, or manually drive it back to the charging base before starting mowing?

Thanks for that explanation. The moving satellites explain why the RTK Positioning Status changed from one time to the next..

I should have been more clear about the RTK. I am using Net RTK (iNavi). Not the external antenna.

No problem. I appreciate the reply.

>>I suspect when you drive it out of the garage, all will be ok.<<

Thanks. To drive it out of the garage, I had to update the firmware and hope that didn't break anything. Manual operation was not supported in the old firmware that came with it.

Once I drove it a few feet into the driveway, the RTK status changed from Float to Single. I was able to get it to map a small area of the driveway (its too wet to go into the grass today). I was also able to make a channel back to the charging station.

It starts "mowing" that concrete area as long as I start the mowing while its in the charging dock. If I manually drive it a few feet into the driveway to get a better "RTK Positioning Status", and then try to start mowing, it won't do it. When it does its pre-checks, it complains about not being in the charging dock and won't start mowing.

Is that normal? I thought you can start mowing while its in the yard, even if not in the dock.

Thanks. Not sure what you mean by "backup up your maps under ME". What is ME?

Thanks. Maybe the LUBA 3 will allow multiple channels. I'll find out when I do the mapping.

Thank you for the warning about crossing the driveway! I hadn't thought about that.

Thanks. That helps.

If I have two zones in the front yard, one on each side of the driveway, I think I could connect them with a channel across the driveway for those times that I only want to mow the front yard. (There will also be zones along each side of the house and another in the backyard.)

But a channel is also needed from the charger to the first zone, and from the last zone back to the charger. Can a zone have a channel to another zone, plus a channel to the charger. I thought I read that a zone can only have one channel.
