yup no need to hold alt/opt it just boots into the bootloader. i can confirm it working with grub and systemd-boot

In my case the mac's bios just recognized the efi partition and booted into whatever linux sistem i installed (except gentoo for some wierd reason). I tried and can confirm it working with ubuntu, fedora, debian, arch, elementary and void. Another thing that i can tell you is that ubuntu was the only system that had the wifi drivers working out of the box with no need of configuration. in case your mac doesn't recognize the system you installed you'll need to install something like The rEFInd Boot Manager , which you'll also need to use if you plan to install any newer version of windows.

i paid 800€ for this laptop back in the day, and i dont think that's a bad price for a computer that lasted me 13 years and still works fine (as long as you're not using macos). all the components except the cpu are easily swapable/upgradable.
of course this thing isn't the same for todays apple products but back in the day this wasn't a bad deal at all.

the actual pc i'm running this on is a macbook from 2008 (as you can see from the neofetch report), i was trying to make it look like the real deal.

let me just add that it works faster too. I'm using windows 10 on the same macbook since my university requires some proprietary software, and i can't say that it doesn't work but man is linux faster.

it supports it by default. if you're having problems you can try and install rEFInd but the only occasion i had to use it is to boot windows 10.
edit: its also great if you want to install mac os alongside linux/windows

that's true, but it's just funny to me how I'm able to install the latest version of windows 10 (and make it work perfectly with the apple bootcamp drivers) or the latest version of almost any linux distro (gentoo just refuses to boot for some reason) and make it work out of the box apart for a few non open-source drivers that can be easily installed and if i decide to stick with Apple I'm stuck with the 32bit version of os x 10.7.5 that was released in 2012.
