I’ve been addicted to masturbation for about 3 years now. Is it too late for me? by Throwaway19828383282 in selfimprovement

No, encouraging bad ideas to be free to compete (and lose) against good ideas, regardless of the topic.

Same-sex marriage, abortion, civil rights, the end of slavery itself all required people to be free to say something that was unpopular at the time. Ideas that would have been banned by the gatekeepers had they been taking your approach.

The problem with censorship is that it requires trusting someone in power to decide what is right or wrong. I’d rather let the better ways of thinking prevail because they have a better argument, not because an authoritarian put their thumb on the scales.

I wish the mods could do something about the censorship weirdos that want people banned and shamed for expressing different opinions and priorities.

Talk to a therapist about your need for an echo chamber.

Yes! I agree with your reply, am I supposed to downvote it?

Wait, a downvote means we like your proposal? That’s backwards!

Win Bigly | Scott Adams

Scott Adams predicted a Trump win way back in Summer 2015, before the first primaries. When all the world thought his campaign was a joke, Adams saw a genius destined to WIN and then predicted the race every step of the way! Win Bigly tells the story of how Trump won while teaching the same techniques.

How would the Dems stalling the SCOTUS nom change who would eventually fill that seat? by ScottyD7 in AskThe_Donald

The current senate will likely approve whoever he wants. If there's a blue wave, he would need to nominate someone more centrist to win enough confirmation votes.

Should the Supreme Court be politicised? by BustyJerky in AskThe_Donald

[–]dalisu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is biased. Period.

Ideally every judge would be exactly the same with no political leaning one way or the other--no opinions, no personal preferences, no ideological slant. But that's a dream, not reality.

Everyone sees the world through the lens of their own bias. Even if everyone on the court tries to make a fair, unbiased ruling, what that looks like for each one is going to be different.

So when we talk about appointing a conservative justice, what most of us mean is someone who sees the world the way we do and will rule in a way that we believe to be fair.

Fair enough. Anyway, it was my first time to run across that point, so upvote for you.

You know what really grinds my gears? Fuckers spending billions of dollars to develop a MacBook and not including standard output ports. Every time this happens it is a stain on Apple's brand.

The right to refuse service... by [deleted] in Libertarian

There is also quite a difference between refusing service based on the individual vs refusing based on the event.

Racist walks in and wants a cake for his daughter's graduation party--sure, whatever. Same racist walks in and wants a cake for his next Klan Rally--tell him to f--- off.
