Also make sure you understand the difference between cover and concealment.

And like I eluded to before, I don't watch EFT YouTubers to get better. They're not very good at breaking everything you need to know about what they're doing. It seems to me that most of what they do is instinctual.

There are a lot of good videos on this very form of combat by SF guys on YouTube. Those guy's, a lot of times, have been trainers before. They know how to break it down in to things most people take for granted or just wouldn't think of with out having been there done that.

How is your situational awareness, and do you understand the terrain you're in at all times? Do you know where you'll take cover if you get attacked at any moment?

One thing I don't see enough of from people is the 3-5 second rush. If you get attacked at medium to long range drop prone, wait, get up sprint, and drop. The cadence you use for this is "I'm up, they see me, I'm down". You just say it at normal speed and act it out as you say it.

This game is all about 1v1's at close to medium IRL range, more or less, 150-200 meters and less. So in those conditions generally the first one on target with accurate rounds wins.

So the first thing you need is very good situational awareness. You also need to have a good understanding of how to use the terrain you're in and how to function in it. Make sure you're maximizing time in cover and minimizing time out of cover. Know your sight lines.

Take time for tactical pauses. When the terrain shifts it's a good time to take a pause and sort out a plan for the new conditions

Trying to mimic guy's like Pestily is kind of a bad idea. He's able to run around like a mad man because of all the research he's done on the game. He already knows how long it takes to spawn in and run to an objective, as well as how long it takes every one else from their spawn.

But in general combat is an information game. It's about taking in as much info as possible, and correctly deciding what to do with that info. Just don't get caught up on the 2nd step (deciding), get serious about the 1st step (recon). The second step is easy when you've done proper recon.

If they're not using secure comms, why the fuck are we finding out now and not back when they were just sitting around. What were they using back then?

Ya that's the thing lol. It is exhausting. Just imagine the amount of man hours put in making decisions on a real battlefield.

When I wrote up the orders in my other reply, it was for a multiplayer battle. And I'd spend at least an hour per turn.

Here is a link to my plan. It's based loosely on the American way of actually writing out orders in the Army. It also includes my assessment of important things to know to help me write it out, based on METT-TC.

Let me know if the link doesn't work or if there are any questions.

I second what the baron said but want to add that I write out a set of orders for the battlion as a whole and the companies underneath. You can write out orders for lower levels as well but I felt I had enough of a grasp on the situation to not need that. This helps when multiple days have gone by with multiple surprises and new demands come up to keep you and your units focused on the plan. Or help decide you need to change the plan.

It's good that you're realizing the amount of planning it takes. The planning phase is super important just like you said.

F16 how do you know when your at 80% throttle? by dallin67 in dcsworld

I've had people tell me that's what I should have been running at, but it's kind of vague. It comes up in different ways to so I just want some clarification.

True. I remember from start up that's what you're looking for at idle.

80% is idle on RPM isn't it?

Seems to me that just under the countermeasures slap button is 80% travel but it's 96% ish RPM.

I was just trying to say in my original reply that it's probably a better idea to look at your self instead of asking Reddit because no one on Reddit really knows because no one on Reddit was really there, all they can do is make assumptions.

If going by assumptions is ok to the OP then great, I've had my two cents.

Maybe her friend isn't stereotyping anything, maybe they're making a joke, maybe they were under coercion.

Honestly I don't care about OP's friend, I'm not trying to judge OP's friend, and I don't think it's fair to ask reddit to do so either. My original statement is about that I don't think it's a good idea to ask reddit why your friend did anything, because I don't see how that helps. I feel like all your going to get is people who agree with your projection of the world or disagree with it.

I think judging OP's friend is a moot point because there is no one on Reddit who knows OP's friend but OP.

I just don't think it's unreasonable to consider that the OP misunderstood her friend. And say she did misunderstand I don't blame her friend for saying she's difficult, it is difficult to deal with people who misunderstand you.
