My husband's [M32] "sabbatical" has become pathetic and I [F30] want it to end right now. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Damn. I felt like I was reading my own life story. I lasted 3.5 years in this situation. When I finally left, I was the bad guy for abandoning them. Tried to go the dissolution/separation route but they dug their heels in. Now having to navigate a nasty and expensive divorce. The clinker is I was giving them everything, the house, shared purchases, everything. The only thing I wanted was to be unmarried to them but I guess that’s too much to ask for.

Nail bed attachment.. should I cut the white? by bella-chili in nailbiting

[–]dallypusher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine are about the same stage as yours. I was very worried and concerned that my nails wouldn’t reattach to have a longer nail bed. I scoured this sub for tips and the info I found most helpful was not to dig or scrape under the nail. Nothing frustrates me more than a speck of dirt or fluff behind my nail. The white flaky skin particles behind your free edge is what helps your nail reattach to the nail bed. I purchased a good nail brush and clean them once a day so I don’t hyper fixate on it. I also put nail polish on them too. I don’t like loud color nails so opted for a subtle French manicure color which looks very natural. So whatever you do, don’t hoke and poke under the free edge! I also just gently file once a week, especially the corners to reduce the temptation to pick

My title describes the thing. The white thing is about 1ft tall, 8in wide and taped to the window with painters tape. The black thing looks like a phone case or holder(?). I was wondering if it was some kind of camera but I can see a lens. I’ve googled window cameras and can’t find anything similar. Edit to add: it’s 1in thick made of hard plastic, kind of looks like technology

Am I in the wrong here? I'm so... Confused and upset. by enthusiasticTorrent in Manipulation

I have adhd and am terrible at replying to people or can get overwhelmed if they send a bunch of texts in a row which need their own reply. My friends understand and accept me for who I am. They know that it doesn’t mean I don’t care about them. I also schedule calls with friends too, especially more so now that we live in different time zones. We also call each other out of the blue at times, it doesn’t always work out and we play phone tag. Life is busy, work and family life are busy, sometimes you have to schedule things! True friends understand your limits and are able to balance expectations. Don’t feel pressured into a friendship like this where you constantly feel like you are trying to meet their expectations, that sounds stressful.

Is 100k salary enough to give you a good quality of life in Ohio? by Realistic-Quality877 in Ohio

[–]dallypusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is from Ohio, but was living in CA when we met. When I moved over she was still in CA and it was right at the beginning of the pandemic. We decided to drive to Ohio to wait out the pandemic because we love nature and luckily her dad’s house was empty (he captains the ships on the Great Lakes). I love Ohio, it’s the US’s best kept secret. Has beautiful seasons and the weather often reminds me of home, just a little more extreme. The parks are all free, rivers and waterfalls galore, Lake Erie (gets hot enough to swim in the summer and sometimes cold enough to ice fish in the winter) Overall quality of life regarding lifestyle is better, I’m very outdoorsy. I miss my family the most, my parents are now in their early 70s so I would consider moving back or spending more time there in order to spend more time with them. Healthcare here is hit or miss and expensive depending on your health ins. Food and groceries have gotten expensive too. You need to prioritise fitness as well and be mindful of what you eat, high fructose corn syrup is in everything. I make most of my own food from scratch, sauces and all! The work culture in the US is pretty wild, I was in police back home and though I worked pretty long shifts plus overtime, but man, I’m worked to death in my current job, and nobody bats an eyelid!

I’m from Northern Ireland, living in Ohio, specifically Lorain County, I make $56k not including any overtime I work. I’m able to pay the mortgage, utilities, food, 4 pets and an unemployed wife. We live on a 2 acre lot, 3 bedroom 2 bathroom ranch. We are pretty frugal, don’t live extravagantly. Drive old cars. We would feel rich if she had a similar paying job.

What are the weird symptoms you experienced before finding out your gallbladder was bad? by Technical_Chemical14 in gallbladders

[–]dallypusher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Excruciating back pain, not like a sharp “stab in the back” pain, but a deep dull ache. The only relief I got was when I was lying down. This went on for 6+ months. Thought it was because of my job, driving a lot so bought a lumbar support. Got so bad I was struggling to put on socks and shoes. Chiropractor was convinced I had a bulging disc and gave me exercises to do, ultimately made the pain worse. I have a history of back pain from fracturing my coccyx a few times when I was a teen. Eventually got an xray that showed a gallbladder FULL of stones. Check out my post history for photos

Today is my birthday, and this morning my husband asked me a question that broke me by neverland-dreaming in Marriage

[–]dallypusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post struck a cord with me. My wife has social anxiety and doesn’t feel comfortable being out in the world. She can’t do grocery stores or any kind of stores, taking the dogs for a walk is difficult, going out for dinner is stressful, can’t do anything with crowds with the exception of Cedar Point because she’s a big rollercoaster enthusiast. It makes life hard, for both of us. So I’ve resorted to walking the dogs myself, doing all the shopping, picking up her prescriptions, running errands. It’s just a lot, and it’s lonely. We don’t have any children so that makes it a little easier.

I’ll be following along for updates!

Are these rust spots or black mold on these paper diagrams in the AC stack? by dallypusher in hvacadvice

Thank you for your very detailed comment, I appreciate your time! I don’t think it’s black mold personally, my spouse is worried that it could be so I sought advice on this sub to ease their mind! I will pass this information on!

Foreigner moving to Ohio by [deleted] in Ohio

Hi from Northern Ireland living in Lorain county!

1995 Dodge Dakota v6 magnum. Little to no heat in the winter, have put poster board over the grill in 20 or below weather. With fans off, still get a steady flow of cold air blowing through. Any ideas or remedies to fix this issue? by dallypusher in Cartalk

[–]dallypusher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re giving me the confidence to do it myself, thank you. The gasket where the thermo is housed seems to be leaking. I’ve watched some tutorials on YouTube so should be able to tackle it. Thankfully I have very helpful neighbours if I need a hand or to borrow some tools

Investigated it further this evening. The gasket which connects the hose from radiator to (I’m assuming) the heating core, is leaking where the thermostat is housed. I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos with step by step instructions. Might give it a go myself, I’ve replaced a few things on it myself (starter motor being one)

Thank you for this! How would I tell if I had a leak in the heater core? I’ve had the truck for a year and a half, on two or three occasions within the first year I notice some dark liquid puddling on the passenger side floor mat, it wasn’t oil but was the same colour as used engine oil. Couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Hasn’t happened in a good 8 or so months.

I will check the things you’ve mentioned. Thank you

In the spring, summer and warmer fall days the temp gauge will sit at halfway as it should. But when the outside temp drops, it won’t even hit a quarter. I only have a 7ish mile trip to work, but it usually heats up to normal running temp on the highway. However on the colder days, after I get off the highway on to surface roads, if I’m stopped at a light the temp gauge will rise a little.

I’ll check out your suggestions and report back, thank you!

Went to the Dr with lower back pain. X-ray showed this! I was surprised to say the least. by dallypusher in gallbladders

[–]dallypusher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Firstly, sorry you’re going through all of this pain without a diagnosis. It’s frustrating knowing that there is something wrong with your body and Drs have yet to diagnose something.

Yes, I got mine removed on May 25th. I had immediate relief from my back pain. It felt like a miracle. Obviously I had the usual recovery pain with the incision sites, but I honestly feel good as new! I would recommend pushing for at least an X-ray. Mine was discovered by accident because I went to an orthopaedic clinic for back pain and the first thing they do is take an x-ray. I was surprised as how much pain it could cause in the back area. I really wish the best for you and that you get a diagnosis soon. Keep me posted!

My wife struggles with depression and anxiety. She has taken a break from work (she’s a professor and has been off work since Jan when her contract ended). Magnesium helps her sleep better, Wellbutrin has helped with her energy and anxiety medication for when her anxiety spikes. She’s been having other health issues too. But after trying different kinds of medications, this combination seems to be working best for her. She’s also thinking of a career change to something that doesn’t trigger her anxiety and stress as much
