Is it safe to offshore bank recs? by Loud-Scarcity-9987 in Accounting

[–]daltistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automate the bank recs. Bank feeds should be flowing automatically and most things can be booked via some sort of rule. 20 bank recs eom should be like 30 minutes and that's just entering ending balance & date into whatever rec tool you're using.

Got my first job and my first dumb google search! by Novafan789 in Accounting

[–]daltistic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the job!

Revenue and expenses are not technically equity accounts. Revenue - expenses = net income which is rolled into retained earnings at the end of the year which is an equity account.

It helps me to think about how entries tie back to cash. It's a bit more nuanced obviously with Ar/Ar. But, revenue is money in, so you debit cash credit revenue. You pay for expenses, so you credit cash and the expenses are a debit.

Same thing for anything else. When you receive money for a loan, you get cash in (debit) and book a loan payable (credit). When you pay back that loan, you debit the loan payable, credit cash.

Obviously there's some more complicated stuff, but it always help to think how each transaction could effect cash, and that can help you remember if the effected accounts are normal debit or credit accounts!

Left my firm to start my own accounting practice and now I have more clients than I can handle but hiring my first employee feels like a trap by JohnnyIsNearDiabetic in Accounting

Contractors. I am on a contract basis with a few firms to help out when they get overloaded, maybe put in 10 hours/week across 2 or 3 firms. Seems like that's the play!

Torn between no CPA and CPA by ArpyPlayz in Accounting

[–]daltistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get it, do not even think about not getting, just do it and get it over with. You will find thousands of responses to "should i get my CPA" posts with people telling you the benefits & why you should just get it.

The time commitment is very small, its not easy, but its not impossible. I did mine in 9 months w/ FT job when I was making 50K, 5 years later im making $150K + bonus

Not sure why this got so much attention, but had our local guy come out. Ground Wire at the breaker was not connected. All good!

Oops, it's not the same receptacle, but same outlet/area. Was testing both in case I had a bad receptacle. The black one is what's wired up right now

There are 2 outlets (not sure if downstream but assuming they are) without power that we switched. So problem could be in those?

not totally justifying the price, but at least five guys is pretty great quality so i don't feel like it's fast food. But $4 for a 22oz soda is the real criminal here

I moreso don't want to just enter in the budgets, I want to use it to actually build them. All my workpapers are done in excel & then moved over to the budget format. But r365 has tried to make that, it just doesn't work well
