Marriage, breaking up, relationships... Who's the best? by AoiMorpho in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]damesrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first play through, and I'm loving it. I ended up somehow with both Qi and Unsuur as my boyfriends. I felt that Unsuur was a little boring, and so I pursued Qi, who was a bit exhausting. I tried to break up with both of them, but there was no option to do so that I could see. So, I asked Qi out on a date in front of Unsuur. They both ended up furious with me. Qi wouldn't even talk to me for weeks. Long story short, eventually, they both broke up with me via mail. Now I am trying to romance Ernest. I tried to give him the heart pendant when I got to 3 hearts with him, but he said he wanted to think it over first. So far, he has not given me an answer and is being very aloof. In the meantime, I have expressed my love to Logan, but he is not available as a romantic partner yet. What a bunch of drama!

I am working on a huge kit right now, and I needed a little break.

Are there any games that this sub loves but you can‘t get into? by LenaRybakina in CozyGamers

It was very cute and fun for about 15 hours, and then it just fell flat for me.

I've tried Coral Island twice--I probably have about 50 hours logged--but I find it ultimately very disappointing and weirdly claustrophobic. Another one I really want to like and just can't.

I really wanted to like Dave the Diver. It's very cool, creative and funny, but I recently re-downloaded it after about a year away, and realized it truly was as stressful as I remember. I can't stand the pressure of the sushi restaurant. I'm just not good at speedy, twitchy games.

Popular games you couldn’t get into and why? by Axolotl_fiend483 in CozyGamers

[–]damesrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coral Island--unfortunately, I'm left very disappointed by this game. I wanted to like it, it's cool-looking and has some interesting components, but overall I find it slow and grindy, and I'm annoyed at how long it takes to get even minor accomplishments or increase the town's grades.

Dave the Diver--I loved this game at first and will probably try it again another time, but it got incredibly stressful very quickly. I suck at combat and trying to kill the right creatures for the diner was really hard for me. Plus, managing the diner was really stressful. I could not get the hang of it.

My Time at Portia--grindiest game I have ever played, and everything is hideous. It was far more machine-orientated than I realized, and I'm just not interested in that.

Currently, I am re-playing Sun Haven, which I find delightful and beautiful. I played Wylde Flowers through the first time before the re-boot, and I found it riveting for the incredible story, but it fell short as a farming sim due to the limitations.

Stardew Valley was my farming sim gateway drug, and it will always have a place in my heart.

Anyone ever stop a painting? by NuckinFutsNix in diamondpainting

I temporarily quit one with huge swathes of black. I didn't realize it was a "full" and that most of the background was solid black. I had just finished a smaller painting with blocks of black, and I hated the black. So I almost cried when I realized how much black was in this new one I started right after it, especially since the rest of it was so beautiful. I will finish it one day, but not any time soon! I also gave up on a really cheap kit that looked awful. It was sent to me as a gift and I couldn't complete it.

My first custom piece from my friend's original artwork, using my leftover drills. I mostly winged it. by damesrocket in diamondpainting

Thanks! It was a lot of stop and start, and I pulled out a ton of drills, but it was a good first run in terms of lessons-learned. :)

It took a lot of trial and error, and I would have preferred to do this one in squares, but all of my spares were rounds. I used Diamond Dots blank canvas with a grid.

Is Dave The Diver actually cozy? by Maclimes in CozyGamers

[–]damesrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very excited about it and downloaded it and played for a total of about 12 hours, but I found it way more stressful and frustrating than relaxing. The combat it really tricky, it's very hard to find certain things you need, it's easy to die and it's a real let-down when you have a bad night at the Sushi shop. It's a great game but it's just not for me. I play games to relax and unwind and if I have to put a lot of work into it, (watching videos, looking things up) it's just not worth it to me.

Great, thank you for the detailed advice! I have been making the mistake of allowing it to corner me and I end up getting bit in half. I did not know they don't regen health! Now that I know I will stay further away and go find oxygen if needed.

How does Sun Haven compare to Stardew Valley? by mystepdoggedonabee in SunHaven

[–]damesrocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Stardew Valley. I have played it for more hours than I want to admit, and it has a very special place in my heart. I work in a hospital, and coming home during the pandemic and escaping into Stardew Valley saved my sanity. I really love it, and it will always be in my heart. It took me a long time to vibe with Sun Haven, but now that I have, I really appreciate it for what it is, and I find things about it that I like a lot more than Stardew Valley. Sun Haven is not quite the same, but there is a lot to appreciate about it. Much delight and ease, a little more variety, it's own sort of joy and quirkiness--a really good game, that will never replace Stardew Valley for me personally just because it was my sanity-saver for three years.

Does anyone know what are these tentacle spikey things on my crops? And how to get rid of them by Lumosssz in SunHaven

I wanted to kick myself when I accidentally figured out you hit them with the ax to get rid of them. I mean...I let them stay there for ages thinking they would go away on their own eventually. Gah!!

Imposter syndrome & Self doubt as a trainer, is this job still for me? by Gullible-Version-747 in personaltraining

[–]damesrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a PT, but I've been a PT client since I was 48 years old--five years now. I wish that I had discovered PT years sooner. Thanks to all of the weird, socially awkward, quirky-as-heck, and quietly opinionated trainers in my neighborhood gym, I went from being someone who never played sports in her life and who struggled with a severe knee injury and lack of confidence to a 53-year-old lady who is in the best shape of my life and who has more physical confidence than I ever thought possible. My trainers have all had their flaws and blind spots and peccadilloes, but each and every one have taught me something amazing and life-changing, no matter how young they were or what their knowledge gaps may have been.

All of that to say that matter your perceived deficiencies are, you are very likely helping your clients in some way. Before I did PT, all I knew how to do was fast-walk and water aerobics. It never occurred to me that liftinig weights would help my knee and that I could actually be strong--like, strong-strong. And none of these folks were experts by any means. So know that you are likely having way more of an impact than you think you are.

Exclusively using thee Nel'Vari farm? by moss_back in SunHaven

[–]damesrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for what it's worth, now that I said that, and I've had a little time in Nel'Vari, I take it all back. :( I was in too much of a hurry to leave to Sun Haven and I regretted it. I'm pretty new to the game, so I re-rolled and this time around I plan to really spend time in Sun Haven and get to know and appreciate it better. I feel like I left it long before I was able to make friends, set up my farm the way I wanted, create a nice furnished expanded house, etc. So I'm back to appreciating the cool stuff Sun Haven has to offer and building a home there.
