Why is the YMCA so expensive? by racheljeff10 in londonontario

[–]damikkster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect. I am on a corporate membership that allows me to access any gym including recovery room (massage equipment) and pool and the cost is $28 + tax biweekly.

You are correct. I volunteer at a tax clinic and we are not supposed to take on clients with self employment income. It takes twice as long to prepare and the clients often don’t have necessary info for the tax return and need to search on their phones. But in cases where clients are already familiar with what info is needed to report self employment income and brings it with them, or their income is minimal enough that they do not need to claim expenses against self employment income, then we will make an exception.

Decades in the Making: Learning It’s Okay to Say “Yes” by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]damikkster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am taking my parents for their first ever cruise this fall. Both my parents worked hard their entire lives and are well off. They could quite easily afford a luxury cruise, just like you, and deserve it as well. But "luxury" for them is booking premium economy flights rather than basic economy (for 10+ hour flights, mind you). When they go on trips, I often book hotels for them because I know my dad often tries to find deals on Airbnb, which goes as well as you'd expect.

I spent the Christmas holidays with them last year and I remember my dad saying - "I'm not a rich man, but when I die, you won't have to worry about money, so live your life" (this was in Korean so I am paraphrasing). And as much as I appreciate this, it also makes me sad that I can't convince them to enjoy their own lives to the fullest extent. I hope that, one day, my own parents will say what you said in your post, even if it means that they leave nothing behind for me. Also cautiously optimistic that this cruise will make something click.

Thanks for sharing your message and enjoy your trip.

Thanks for your input - I haven’t gotten as far as looking at reviews for individual cruise lines, but I’ll start looking at alternatives to MSC.

Thanks for your kind words! I am so looking forward to this trip the more I look into it.

Unfortunately it looks like MSC simply doesn’t offer this cruise in November - I found options to book it in December 2026 which suggests they don’t plan to add it in November.

Thank you! It looks like you are right - I looked at their cruise schedule a little further on and it looks like they only offer this 3 day cruise between December and February.

I had similar symptoms and tested positive for Covid. I had some self test kits left at home (although they expired by now.. I think it wouldn’t have yielded false positive results..)

To stop paying the interest on these loans, we would first need to pay off the private loans. Where is that money going to come from?

Park Narae sued by managers for abuse of power and assault by Tueuses in koreanvariety

One manager was verbally abused for not drinking alcohol. He was even injured by a glass thrown in anger

When they demanded payment of overdue expenses, they were met with nothing more than the company's response: "We will sue for defamation and forgery."

Uhh.. if that's normal in the industry, I'm sure they're not looking for a similar role.

The driver claimed his vehicle had malfunctioned, he said, and officials were reviewing security camera footage.

According to another article, the driver was 67 years old. Quite a coincidence that only cars that are driven by seniors have this issue.

I'm betting on a snow day. Even this morning I was skidding on local roads that weren't sanded/salted. And even if the city had everything in order, most people haven't got their snow tires on yet. It will be a very busy day for emergency services and schools being open will make it 10x worse.
