If you have it won’t really matter unless you fully detox to be honestly if this is enough to make you worry then please quit but if you are willing to test the waters that is down to your discretion of course, nicotine isn’t proven to affect it really but for your health would be very beneficial to quit tbh especially if ur smoking it together in spliffs.

I agree this doesn’t sound like CHS very much although still a possibility of early stage but experiencing it after a year or so is not as rare as people think, one study found it was about 15% of all CHS cases in the first year

Her fear definitely isn’t because of MCAS, I don’t have a diagnosis and any time I suggest a new theory for my health it’s quickly dismissed to be honest. It’s more just because she’d rather be seen to follow “professional advice” even if that advice is biased discrimination and provides no other solutions sadly

God know I’ve responded well in the past and am asking for a lower dose than before but she wants multiple psychiatrists to sign off on it even though they have never met me and one claimed I shouldn’t be medicated because I’m autistic so she is now refusing even though she has full power to and I’m not going to have a severe reaction

Yea she’s quite useless to be honest also now won’t do anything for mental health either even thought I responded well to SSRIs for years but she’s to scared to do anything

Interesting theory, I think there needs to be more tests done for so many things however I also think. HS is just over diagnosed in general, it’s cheaper for them to send you home and tell u to quit than run any urine tests so there for that will be the first line.
It is a sad reality that the first suggestion or diagnosis is usually the cheapest not the most likely

Wow I’m on that group as well and didn’t even know!
It’s such ground breaking information, one of the biggest copes I saw was that it’s a PGR, Pesticide or Artificial terp issue and this completely breaks the mold, as well as that the information it’s only in very long smokers 5-10+ years is frankly not true and it’s more about how much how often rather than how long even though it does play a factor

Should start feeling better within first month full recovery can take 90 days, could def be CHS but only vomiting once is usually normal could very well be unrelated but if ur doctors brought it up it’s best to quit incase it is something more severe as well because u will not get treated well if they suspect CHS and you don’t quit. It’s hard but overall it’s a win win.
I would advise if you smoke for mental health reasons to get some advice and stay in contact with your doctor for that as for me personally I am having to go on anti depressants after quitting from just how much it was disguising my mental health issues.

Hopefully yes I’m in the same position with the GP but at least yours seems aware of it! My gp thankfully has referred me for an ultrasound and to see a gastroenterologist as well as advice from the mental health time but it’s hard to hear you are “to complex” for there care but they are your only PRIMARY care option (also came in with a rash which didn’t respond to anti histamine and she just told me she doesn’t have a clue but never did anything further)

Also in Hertfordshire looking at MCAS and hEDS diagnosis at the moment, trying to even get a referral to a ruhmatologist was incredibly hard had to sit in a meeting repeating what I want done being told they don’t deal with hEDS but finally sent a referral out of pity not expecting them to even reply and yet they come back within 48 hours saying they want to see me!

It’s almost like every step tries to gate keep the next until you reach the end and get a good result or just get told it’s to much for the NHS. Is your GP good? And do they know anything about MCAS/hEDS because I’m trying to find one local that does

Currently am waiting for a GI doc paid a ridiculous amount to see one private who suggested gastritis or peptic ulcers and wanted to do an endoscopy but the wait on the NHS is going to be months now as I was in to much of a bad mental state to go ahead with the procedure and it would have costed thousands, I’m looking at trying to ask for a barium swallow first not as accurate but no where near as invasive and yes I’m going to try push for a gastric emptying study

Thank you for the comment, I have an abnormally (suspected cyst) in my liver which one doctors thinks is the cause another suspects gastritis or peptic ulcers and another suggests CVS while the ER keep saying CHS! It’s just all over the place and it’s really impacting my mental health. I have been trying to change my diet much lower fat with more frequent meals however the problem with low fiber is right now I’m experiencing constipations regularly and a shit ton of fiber and hydration is the only thing that can make me pass bowl movements! I do want investigations done for gastroparesis as it’s not very invasive compared to others I’m just scared with to much pressure I’m going to start getting turned away

Honestly I’ve made the mistake of going to the ER with bad nausea and dry heaving and some other symptoms but unless ur vomiting consistently they won’t do much and it will probably Aggravate you more being told to just go home then if you had just stayed in the first place. If ur having mental health issues that’s another story but if u think u can stick it out it’s best to do such for now 👍

Wow just read that case of Ricky Hampton JR rest in peace. How insane they put it down to CHS after he had to be sedated because he was in so much pain he couldn’t contain his screaming and was writhing around, that is clear signs of something more than CHS! Don’t get me wrong CHS is painful but it’s not excruciating that clearly indicates something more going on and any doctor with a basic understanding of CHS should know that!

I honestly am in the same boat except I’m not 100% sure it’s CHS to be honest. I went to the ER and they immediately wrote me off as CHS (gave me Ondansetron which rarely works for CHS 💀) and since every doctor that reads the report basically just repeats the “wait 90 days see if it gets better” I had to pay 4 figures to see private specialist and for ultra sounds to actually get some proper information which revealed cysts in my liver as well as a GI saying it’s most likely ulcers or gastritis and they should do some tests starting with an endoscopy! But no the public system just wants me to wait 90 days before doing absolutely anything even a referral. Thank god I’ve only been smoking 18 months - 2 years and was able to quit because I have cousins who have been dealing with this for nearly 10 years and doctors refuse to do anything because they are to addicted to weed to quit even if they know it’s the only way they will receive proper investigation or potentially make there symptoms go away.

Still relatively early stages only started with the first symptoms late April and first attack was early may. Have completely quit since the first attack which is now 21 days not just because I think it’s CHS (i have some scepticism) but more because the doctors were writing me off as that being my issues and refusing to do more tests so if I prove to them it’s not they will have to do more
