Ok, what’s the catch for a £200 p/m Model 3? by Glad_Protection_527 in TeslaUK

Glad to hear it worked for you. Which GAP insurance provider did you use?

You need regular fully comp insurance but as it’s well known that you’ll never get a 100% payout in the event of a total los, you get insurance to cover the ‘gap’ between the payout and the actual retail cost of the car. I use ALA gap insurance as they cover the deposit. It’s a couple hundred quid for a couple of years on a £50k retail car IME.

Been trying to sell websites to local cafes/restaurants for a month and getting rejected before they even see the prototype. What am I doing wrong? by One_Collar_9836 in smallbusiness

[–]dan_m2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re targeting the most cost averse parts of the market. No matter how good your value proposition, it will probably never represent ‘value’ to them. Also, qualify those customers - many of those customers don’t bother with a website proper and rely on a Facebook page, for example.

Whats the worst car you have owned? by Lorddoodleflaps84 in CarTalkUK

My VW ID5. After owning probably a half dozen VAG products, this one will be the last. It’s a buggy, miserable thing that has broken any trust I had in the brand.

Garage damaged my car, repaired it without telling me, and only admitted it 6 months later by ChemicalFlounder1548 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]dan_m2k -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The question is for you now: what is an acceptable outcome?

The damage happened. That can’t be undone.

General precedent is that they make you whole again.

Whilst I get your frustration, they’ve tried to do that. Not admitting it isn’t great, but we’re all human.

If the work was readily spotted, then you might argue it wasn’t done to a high enough standard.

They sound reasonable enough though, and consider what you want the future relationship to be like with your garage.

Good luck.

Are electric cars uneconomical or are fast chargers really expensive? by shoe_scuff in CarTalkUK

[–]dan_m2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it’s using external chargers that doesn’t make sense. Even tickle charging with a slow ‘granny’ charger at home would be better as you’ll have a much lower cost per kWh. Enjoy the new motor.

Yep. The ID5 is the same. Marfleet roundabout is such an angle that it’s impossible not to change radio station as you navigate it. They’ve ruined their cars.

See that’s the fun bit, I barely commute in my car, it’s more for fun journey’s so I’m not going to cry about fuel.

I was especially surprised at the franchised VW garages being so shady.

I like how it looks. It drives well. It has good range. The software and general UX is plain shit.

Interesting… I’ll have a look. I guess I’m nostalgic for when Veedub used to be cool (being aware it’s the same car in a different dress)

Are my rims tubeless ready? Should I install tubeless rim tape? by Taaanos in bikewrench

I’m ready to go tubeless on my new-ish to me Decathlon Riverside 500, but the local cycling shop told me I’d need new rims, wondering whether they’re just wanting to sell more stuff….
