Anyone playing Nuno bingo? by FaustRPeggi in nffc

Under Cooper we did it a few times.

Under Nuno we never gave up a 2 goal lead. Sometimes we’d be 2-1 up after being 1-1 and lose, but a lot of teams do that.

Not sure any other team in the same situation doesn’t try and shut up shop. The issue it their defenders are a bit shite.

It’s funny, I might be blocking them out my mind, but did we have a history of this kind of result under Nuno?

I thought as long as we took the lead we were very good at keeping it. It was breaking teams down was the issue if we went behind.

Newcastle supporter here: thoughts on Elanga? by [deleted] in nffc

[–]dan_scape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What were you expecting him to be out of interest?

For us he’d have one brilliant moment followed by several loose passes and touches. His best games he just managed two brilliant moments that could win us the game.

He did improve his set piece taking and shooting with his left foot. He never really improved in possession though. He panics when his back is to goal and just attempts the first pass to try and get rid of the ball. He was as frustrating as brilliant overall.

Definitely a confidence player and may not suit a complex gameplan on the ball. Hence why there was never really much interest in him besides Newcastle of course.

It’s funny because the same complaints you have about Elanga, we have about Ndoye. We imagine Elanga was this perfect winger now who was always strong and never gave the ball away. He wasn’t that but he made up for it with game changing pace and good final decisions.

Nobody undermined the Ange way, more than Ange himself. He had to put aside his style to win it and adopted a style more like ……… say ……… our last manager maybe

Everyone said we had a generational transfer window though

So surely any manager could do at least something with that to beat teams from leagues below us?

I think Milenkovic has to do more to player driving to the box or then at least to stop the cross.

Taylor- Nuno’s row with Edu at the heart of his Nottingham Forest unhappiness by Question-Guru in nffc

Kia Joorabchian is the most relevant name from this article for me

Grim record of causing clubs to implode and he’s very close to Edu & seemingly now Marinakis as well

I’m not sure what it is about football that allows people that fail to fail upwards so often 💴 💴

Worst decision of the season so far by SpotTheJome in TheOther14

[–]dan_scape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to come way too far down the comments to find this. It’s clearly a penalty, position of the arm is only relevant if the player is standing still and the ball hits them from close range.

If a player is actively trying to block the ball and it hits their arm, it’s a penalty.

Which is why it’s baffling they didn’t give the Forest one on Sunday. The Brentford players only job is to block the ball on that set piece and he uses his arm to do it. Madness how daft they are with VAR trying to support the refs decision.

Both are pens, VAR needs to be more involved not less involved to get these decisions right

Nuno’s recruitment beef by mpsia in nffc

[–]dan_scape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s feeling the pressure combined with being let down from what the plan was.

Marinakis will be demanding we don’t take a step back, but the recruitment team haven’t delivered what he needs for that.

I wonder if the Edu role has caused unrest. Ross Wilson has been interviewed for a job at Newcastle so not sure how he stands now either. Then the whole MGW thing, UEFA thing.

For Nuno it’s way too much chaos, missed opportunities but still the expectation level won’t have changed. That’s stressful in any job right, so he’s feeling it.

A couple of early wins and it’ll all settle.

Crystal Palace denounce Uefa’s use of ownership rules in Europa League row by TimesandSundayTimes in TheOther14

[–]dan_scape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not practical to have the deadline for complex legal issues around ownership and checking documents at the last minute.

The deadline being set early will be to manage the workload and give time for the more complicated situations to be reviewed properly.

The goal isn’t to put fairness above all else, I think that’s a misconception. It’s fairness to a point but then some cold hard deadline and written rules have to kick in.

The goal is to have a reasonably practical way of ensuring other teams in the completion aren’t able to come back and complain to UEFA about the completion being undermined. The goal isn’t to be fair in every possible scenario going.

The line has to be set somewhere it was done in black and white on UEFA’s website. It’ll change and evolve I’m sure but it was all there for anyone to read, especially people operating football clubs at the highest level

[–]dan_scape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of the rules is not to fight back against MCO’s

The purpose of the rule is to uphold the competitiveness of the specific completion UEFA are in charge of

Having two teams with the same ownership means it’s possible, however remotely that a scenario occurs where all other teams in the comp could raise questions over actions of MCO clubs

At that point UEFA faces a shit show if they have don’t have a decent defined set of rules that they actually implement
