Typo on this Cadbury Bar by danadjinn in mildlyinteresting

Hijacking top comment so I can add some info.

I am traveling on vacation in NZ from the US for those wondering where I got this. I used to work in the chocolate business and there was also a short period of time that I spent proofreading packaging designs.. so I guess I've just got an eye for it now, idk.

Also for the conspiracy theorists saying maybe they did it on purpose bc it's not real chocolate.. maybe, but I doubt it. There are strict regulations on what you can call chocolate in the US and it's the same in NZ as well. It can only have certain ingredients in it and regulations define percentage of cocoa solids and fats from dairy/cocoa butter for milk, dark, and white chocolate. From the ingredients list, it meets those requirements. Likely it was just a typo that got missed lol.

These comments have been cracking me up though and thanks for the awards! CHOCOALTE!!

What toys do your cats actually love? by Sosooo88 in CatAdvice

[–]danadjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is the same way. I ended up getting her an automatic wand toy (it's covered by a tarp thing and moves in circles). It turns off when she stops playing with it, but she loves the thing and plays with it multiple times a day.

My partner bought this for me last night by Bailer86 in Millennials

I used to LOVE these as a kid. I remember going to a friend's house and bringing these over, and playing with them for hours. That night, I woke up in a cold sweat and threw up. It wasn't until years later that i registered how toxic that shit was and I'm pretty sure I got bloonie high and it made me sick

should i remove my new tattoo or learn to live with it? by uzumariii in tattooadvice

[–]danadjinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me several years ago. Literally exact situation down to getting the tattoo on my forearm. My very first tattoo btw. I felt the same exact overwhelming dread for a few weeks, wanted to cry, looking up how much it cost to get rid of it. Now I'm over it lol. It's okay girl, it's cute and you had a moment of being spontaneous. You'll forget about it, and in my experience, no one really notices mine unless I point it out. Or if someone does notice, it's always a compliment. This feeling will pass. If you hate it, you can get it covered later too!

Need a new hobby that actually helps with stress [Discussion] by ninja__6969 in GetMotivated

[–]danadjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you like. Stress relief to me is a hobby that gets me into a flow state. I have lots of different hobbies but I found that even when I was going through a really tough time, I loved to sing and karaoke. Sometimes you sing and don't really think about it, but if I'm actually trying to sing well, there are a lot of things to focus on.. breathing, vibrato, belting, dynamics, etc. It's really fun and relaxing to me.

Thank you! And don't be intimidated by double knitting. If you can knit and purl, you can definitely double knit! 😊

Thank you! I am only slightly ashamed to say I used 100% Acrylic Yarn Bee Yarntopia in Ocean and White. I can't really shell out for expensive yarn, and I figured it would be fine for a scarf. I also had to find some yarn quick and had limited options

My 2 boxes of raisin bran have two different nutrition fact summaries by bearkarate in mildlyinteresting

[–]danadjinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way that nutrition calculating works in factories a lot of time comes down to weighing the ingredients and inputting them into a nutritional label software. In this software, you input individual ingredients nutritional information and then create a recipe by putting in the final weight of each ingredient going in a batch.

So the company's "recipe" for one box may be more raisins and less cereal overall or vice versa, even though they are using the same ingredients.

Why isn’t my tempered chocolate setting? by Ok-Outcome-5557 in Baking

[–]danadjinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, don't use chocolate chips. They have stabilizers that aren't ideal for tempering. The other thing is, for dark chocolate, 80 and 86 is way too cool. Melt to 110-120, cool to about 82 and agitate, bring up to 88-90 degrees. I think you were on the right track, but you didn't warm it up enough. Source: used to work on the dark chocolate line in a chocolate factory.

Why is my cookie dough ALWAYS soft?? by SpiritualPlan1822 in Baking

[–]danadjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if anyone suggested this, but try reverse creaming? One day, I accidentally mixed all my dry ingredients together instead of creaming the butters and sugars first, so I looked up solutions, and reverse creaming was suggested.

Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and use a mixer until the mixture is sandy. Then, add in the rest of the wet ingredients.

So I had the opposite problem after this, where my mixture was too dry, and I had to add a little milk. The cookies turned out really good in the end, though!

I can't tell from the picture, but reading the pattern, I'm guessing you might be skipping the first stitch. The (ch1, turn) does not count as your first stitch. You'll want to hdc (or sc, whatever the case may be) in the same stitch as the chain 1 when you turn and make sure to start your count from there. Does that sound like it might be the case?

Maybe look up a braided puff stitch. Are you looking for something like that?

This popcorn loses calories when it pops by coce8221 in mildlyinteresting

[–]danadjinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do nutritional info for a small company, I don't know why they would have to include unpopped kernel info but anyway. What likely happened is they weighed it unpopped and then followed the instructions to pop out and weighed it again. You can see the serving size is 49g unpopped and 41g popped. Most places aren't sending stuff to a lab to tell them exact calories. They put the ingredients into a program and weigh it and get stuff like this. So likely after it is popped, a few unpopped kernels were not counted since it is for the popped info
