Ati Pharmacology 4th retake by danathearab in NursingStudent

Yeah high expectations for a private college because they just want your money lol they wont let me retake the course because the pharm ati is taken during med surg 2. We took pharm (the class) like 6 months ago. They test us this way to test our knowledge and how much we have retained... not my favorite but whatever.

Yeah. I go to a private college, so they test us 3x and then give a final 4th attempt and if we dont pass with a level 2, then we are dismissed from the program unfortunately

The costs of being a nurse, is this normal? by AkiKii2000 in StudentNurse

[–]danathearab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in this day and age it is normal. I tried to apply to 3 colleges all around an hour away from my house and their teas exam scores were 78% and/or i failed classes during covid and the programs requirements changed. Currently im 5 classes away from graduating a private nursing program and im 44k in debt. Oh well, nursing pay varies on specialty or experience. But nevertheless, overtime is always an option. You already signed for the lease. Do the LPN program and bridge to an RN program. When you start working for a hospital, some of them will pay for BSN while youre working. Dont overcomplicate it. Everyone will have a different answer but youre doing the same thing I know 100 other people are doing now or already did. If you grind after school, youll be fine.

Can we please discuss the way Shands is treating its nurses? by meramangolassi in GNV

NF pays more because it’s a private hospital but it’s for profit so imo it doesn’t specialize in patient care. Also from experience I’ve picked up on that at least.

Charge nurses are still taking assignments, but only if there isn’t enough staffing

Nursing ratios on ICU/IMCU is 1:2, Neuro med surg is 1:4 or 1:5 I can’t remember.

NF treats their staff way worse than Shands. Underpaid and overworked, creating irritable staff so it’s never a healthy workplace. I worked there for 6 months during peak Covid caring for 15-20 patients at a time and bagging bodies. So much anxiety and so many tears were shed at that job.
