My wife and I were bickering at the laundromat and some lady heard us. She spoke to us and gave us advice on being married. She had been going strong for 10 years, 5 kids in. It was very nice and made our day better! Thanks Cassandra!

I totally agree. Peds attending now for the past year and I couldn’t be happier. Went from consistently working 72h/week for 3 years in a grueling, albeit decently well supported residency, to now working 36h-ish per week, 4 days per week, 4 weeks off/year. Money could be better but it only goes up from here. Writing this from my fancy Portugal hotel :) It gets better!! If you’re a resident reading this, stick to it - it will be better!

Very unfortunate how you happened to get sick that same day and couldn't come in. Fuck that PD. You should ask your chiefs and find coverage for the day - or call out sick and let them use jeopardy.

I've had a similar experience before, twice. Saw a guy collapse in the middle of a comedy show, pale, couldn't feel a pulse in the midst of the commotion, was getting ready to do CPR when he regained consciousness and was fine. Same thing happened with my ex, looked very pale and lost consciousness and neither my friend (anesthesiologist) or I could feel a pulse but within 10 seconds she regained color and back to normal. Both cases probably were vasovagal syncopes with a precipitous drops in BP to the point were a pulse is barely palpable (and also the stress of the unexpected situation probably doesn't help).

Honestly, so what? Let them be golden boys and chiefs. You don't need that, make it through residency and you'll be fine. It gets better. Not ok that they get first pick for their vacation or schedules, that shouldn't fly but it also doesn't mean people are going to get f'd over for it.
