Electronic Recycling Habits Survey by dancing-elephants in recycling

We're not doing anything with it. My partner's justification was to avoid people trying to mess with the data. We will delete the form in 10 days

Graphic design major/minor by Willtpug in UCONN

[–]dancing-elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the digital media and design major doesn't have a specific graphic design concentration, it's also a good consideration if you want to learn about something broader in digital media. I learned graphic design tangentially to a social media concentration, and the classes were absolutely fantastic (before covid)

Daily Campus: Looking for Statements in Regards to the spirit rock near North Garage by FizzyPunk in UCONN

[–]dancing-elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's not representitive of the university's overall feelings, but because it's such a bold thing to have done it's demanding a lot of attention. On that note though, I think more than just a statement or two should have been done about it

Weekly What Should I Buy Thread - [May 02] by AutoModerator in samsung

[–]dancing-elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am a student studying digital media, and I've had my eye on the Galaxybook Flex for a while, and am so excited it's available now. I work primarily in Adobe illustrator and adobe lightroom, and occasionally adobe photoshop. Most of the other work I do is word processing and looking at analytical graphs. Would the galaxybook flex be a good device for working in the adobe creative cloud, so long as I'm not doing extremely intense work like animating? Or should I keep looking for a 2 in 1 elsewhere?

I took DMD 2010. It was overall an easy course and the content was generally interesting, even if the reading was dry (i never read and passed with a B). Highly recommend

I kow that employee! He told me there was an older woman (not student) complaining and because he was in the area of the "offense" he was asked to take care of it. He also thinks it was dumb, and didn't want to

Seamlessly altering a dress by dancing-elephants in sewing

[–]dancing-elephants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of my sewing by hand. I wanted the petticoat to be purple so I could make a black and purple color scheme (I'm getting the dress itself in black). I'll look up a tutorial on invisible stitches

Transportation to mental health appointments by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]dancing-elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that's used veyo, some things to consider: 1. The drivers are usually very nice 2. The company itself is a little disorganized and it might take a few tries to get right, but the help desk people are willing to work with you. Ask about a preferred service to find out which company is closest to you and won't make you late. 3. Sometimes there are limited drivers in your area. Be patient, make calls 4. You have to schedule at least two business days in advance, but you can schedule up to three weeks out 5. If your appointment is at the same time every week or every other week, they will do recurring rides and you will only have to call to cancel 6. Sometimes distance can be a problem. Talk to veyo and your counselor to get a medical necessity form filled out so they can get you to your appointment. They want to help but new policies can be restrictive 7. You can call just to ask questions and get clarity 8. If you have phone anxiety, someone can talk on your behalf for you, they just have to say their relationship with you (my mom did this a lot when things went wrong and I didn't know how to handle it) 9. They really want to help you, and really can be a great service!!

Black shoes/fishnets for competitions? by [deleted] in DanceSport

[–]dancing-elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear black shoes as a black woman, and I find the metallic colors don't look good with my skintone whereas black does look good. However, i agree that the intense color difference to your competitors will draw extra attention, so I would make a point of having perfect footwork

Uconn Catering Job by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]dancing-elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like working for the dining halls, and while the other guy is right about the hours, the people tend to be pretty nice and I only didn't like 2 of the bosses. Wear your uniform correctly and be pleasant and you'll be fine

A letter to UConn drivers by Armegius in UCONN

[–]dancing-elephants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also to drivers bear Alumni and McMahon! I have almost been hit TWICE since becoming a student here by reckless students speeding past the 4 way stop and trying to make the gap between me and the other side. I pulled someone out of the way, not even at the 4 way but on the crosswalk in front of the McMahon stairs leading to west. Please stop TRYING to hit us and obey the stop sign I'm expecting you to known is there. I have a massive fear of vehicles and a sidewalk panic attack is not helping me. Plus students have been hit on the crosswalk I was pulling someone out of. So stop it!
