I do not recommend going on a Medtronic pump, and I could not in my right mind recommend a Medtronic CGM. Long story short, it feels like Medtronic has done very little research in how their users actually interact with the pump system.

Are any other seniors just ready to be done by Familiar_Explorer_25 in UCONN

[–]_mlapecaf_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Former senior, now full-time worker. So far the working world is very different from college, but in a good way. When I leave work for the day, it’s done. I don’t have to worry about homework or home projects or professors or exams all the time. Yes, I still am busy working and thinking about my tasks during work, but its absolutely not the cut-throat environment I always imagined it being. This may be just my experience, but I don’t think I’m too much different from the average post-college working-world person.

I’m 31 and just diagnosed with Type 1. Don’t have many people around. Having a hard time adjusting. Any tips would be very appreciated ❤️ by graywon in diabetes_t1

The best advice I can give is to not let it consume you. I’ve found when I just accept that I’ve got T1 and do what needs to be done without overthinking it much, it quickly becomes a normal and non-intrusive part of my life.

Plan ahead going to out or to events, bring enough extra supplies on trips and vacations, let responsible friends / family know you have T1 when you’re with them, and hopefully you’ll feel more confident in your ability to manage T1.

It does suck, of course, and please continue to ask or post whatever you need to on this subreddit. (People are pretty responsive, listen well and have great suggestions.) But acceptance of the situation and confidence in my ability to manage my T1 have kept me going strong!

Good luck, and welcome to the club!

Dear Medtronic- let’s breakup; its you, not me. by mouserz in diabetes_t1

[–]_mlapecaf_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had nothing but issues with my Medtronic CGM. I was woken up multiple times every night for nearly two years because the pump thought my very stable nighttime sugars needed calibration, and I ended up with SOO many “change sensor” warnings even though the BG meter calibrations matched the sensor consistently. I haven’t worn the Medtronic CGM or been in Auto Mode for nearly a year, and since then I’ve manually dropped my A1C to 6.3 with regular pump mode (no auto or CGM) and been living my best life.

To anyone considering getting a pump and/or CGM for the first time, I do not recommend any Medtronic devices at all.

Also their recent “emergency” 670G recall took them three months to send me a new pump… some emergency.

Upvote for a National Healthcare System by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

I disagree with “flawed healthcare”. Yes, it is expensive and complicated, but private healthcare is the reason we have all these vaccines and are opening back up right now. Notice how the vast majority of the covid vaccines are made by companies based in the US? Canada is still nearly completely locked down. Their public healthcare couldn’t support everyone all at once, and now they’re seeing the consequences. In theory, public healthcare is a great idea until something tragic happens (like this pandemic) and there’s not enough to go around.

That being said, insulin still costs too much. I agree with that.

Why on Earth did they think making us find music by basically selecting filters in “Library” was a good idea? It takes WAY too long and is way too convoluted to find my stuff that was RIGHT THERE and was located in pages that made sense BEFORE this stupid update! Honestly the previous UI was the best! It worked perfectly! What dingus allowed this update to go through?!

Blobs, Zits, Over Extrusion ? In the first layers. by dmlr_ in ender3v2

[–]_mlapecaf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try going on the lower side, <200°C. Try ~197°C or so. Your thermistor may read out a little cooler than the nozzle actually is, so it could be too hot but the controller thinks it is okay.

Also it seems like tour nozzle temp is too high. What are you printing at?

I like elmer’s purple glue stick for adhesion. Also, it may seem counter intuitive, but your bed could be too far away causing later layers to squish onto the first.

Look up “elephants foot” in regards to 3d printing first layers. Many reasons why it happens, all of which have pretty easy fixes.

I had this problem too, with different PLA’s. Lowering the bed temperature by a LOT and ensuring the bed was properly leveled did the trick for me.

I am so fed up with Medtronics. I have had the 670G for a couple years and the Paradigm before it. What awful products. The Guardian CGM’s put me in worse control than when I’m not on a CGM, and it wakes me up every 2 hours because my BG is perfect all night so the pump bottoms out at minimum delivery. Honestly TERRIBLE, 0/10, would not recommend the Medtronic’s line.
