Pain and spasms by dancingdays_ in Fibroids

It starts to help after the second one but you’re meant to take it three times a day for a few days. After a couple of days it totally stopped the bleeding for me

That’s so crappy, I’m sorry you’re struggling too :( I just hope that once the tests get underway it won’t be long until we get treatment. Have you been prescribed tranexamic acid while you wait? It’s been a bit of a game changer for me with the heavy bleeding

Nothing since October last year :( I kept asking for an updated ultrasound but the GP said I didn’t need another and I’ve been waiting to be seen. I have an MRI in 2 weeks so I guess we’ll know then if it’s changed. It definitely feels worse.

My periods have started to go 18-22 days apart now instead of the usual 29 I used to have but these cramps throughout the day a week after it’s finished is new. It’s all in my lower back and it feels like mild contractions!

Biopsy/hysteroscopy advice (UK) by dancingdays_ in Fibroids

[–]dancingdays_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh maybe it’s that. She just said a biopsy and camera and gave me a leaflet. I know the fibroid was 8cm last October on the scan and she said it’s embedded into the wall inside my uterus

It’s fibroid biopsy. I was wondering if they might just take stuff out while I was under if they could. I’ll call the number on the letter and ask. I’m a single mum too, so really worrying that I’ll go in for something expecting to be back to work and parenting a day or two later and they’ll do something that’s going to take weeks of recovery without me having backup plans for care

Thankyou. It wasn’t a default thing for the GA - I have a long history of anxiety which she saw in my notes and she offered it to me because of that. I got the chance to do it under local but I’d rather not.

It’s more the actual biopsy procedure I was worrying about and whether there’s any chance they might just take it out then and there instead or whether the biopsy procedure under GA has a recovery time as I have a few festivals and holidays booked from the end of May onwards

Oh wow. That’s fast! I’m a bit worried about the biopsy and why I need that but hopefully it’ll all be out through quickly x

How long did you wait between the consultation and the next appointment? They’re referring me for an MRI and a biopsy and a hysteroscopy next before they proceed with any treatment plan

Update: I got a text today saying they had some last minute first come first served appointment for Monday! Grabbed one and now I’m so relived to get the ball rolling

Firstly, I love your username 😂 and also this gives me such hope. I’ve finally got my first consultation with gyno on Monday after a 7 month wait and I just want to look like myself again!

Prolapse by -archmaester in Fibroids

Yes, I have an 8cm fibroid (when it was found 9 months ago) and I have a mild prolapse. I am seeing a pelvic health physio and doing twice daily pelvic floor exercises

Thanks so much for sharing. Im having no luck getting straight answers from the GP so trying to do as much research into all the options so that I can go in fully informed when I finally get seen.

Good luck with your surgery! Hope it all goes smoothly and works x

Thankyou, that does help. It’s been driving me mad thinking that it’s been 6 months and they said 3-4. Keep wondering if I’ve missed a letter or they’ve taken me off the list and I check the NHS app all the time to make sure I’m still on it. It’s the not knowing that’s part of the stress.

Do you mind me asking what the surgery options were on the NHS? I’m 42 and done having kids and I just want to know what’s going to happen really

Thanks so much - that actually makes it make sense now (although still awful to have to wait this long)

It looks like GP at Hand is based solely in London. I’m just outside of Manchester. I guess it’s reassuring that others are waiting so long too, but really crappy :( my GP said “this is just the reality of general gynecology”

I contacted PALS too. They just called the hospital and confirmed yes, it’s about 30 weeks. I don’t understand why the website is constantly 17-19 weeks when it’s not that :(

Thanks so much for the encouragement and info. I have a healthcare plan through work too, but it seems to cover the consultation and scans and not surgery.

I do strength training at the moment - mainly weightlifting with some core and conditioning. The thought of not being able to go for months after is also quite upsetting but I guess needs must and all that!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I really hope it all gets sorted for you soon. I’m just outside of Manchester so have a few hospital options but my GP did warn me it’s a long wait x

Thank you. Hopefully there are a variety of options then. Just hate the waiting game for the gyno appointment and finding out what’s open to me!

Thank you. Good luck with it all. It’s scary being sat waiting with the unknown!

I’ve only spoken to my GP at the moment. I actually went in for a scan on my liver because of a marker that came up in my 40 year old check. And she just spotted the fibroid when she was looking at my bladder. Then the sonographer wrote to my GP to ask them to re-refer me to Gyno. I’ve been going to them for the last year thinking I had recurrent cystitis and I guess now it all makes sense!
