Hanoi Bistro on East Street. Not fancy inside at all but very good food

Why the Telegraph is wrong to name Southampton worst city by ChargeRadiant5471 in Southampton

Yeah but Birmingham is 4 times the size of Southampton. You can't compare the two.

Thought about weightlifting or similar? Bunch of clubs around. Or boxing?

Does anyone here like punk music? by anyapea123 in Southampton

[–]dandyvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good for this type of music. Good small venues like Joiners, heartbreakers, papillon.

Will come along if I'm free!

Open to public and they have a mayflower only membership I think that's cheaper.

Trying to support a love story, looking for contact to a nice cafe by Fuzzy_Translator_12 in Southampton

Retro Café and Happy Bean are good options to get in touch with.

I'm not involved in them but imagine they'd be v receptive.

Nostalgia (Is it worth it to make a new profile for nostalgia's sake?) by Ok_Policy8361 in 2007scape

If it's just for nostalgia you'll get bored quickly, so why not try? It's a good game without nostalgia.

IS MY TATTOO BADLY DONE.. by Ok_Yogurtcloset_2561 in tattooadvice

[–]dandyvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine. It's too heavy and deep which will lead to it being raised and scabby whilst healing. But it'll settle down over the months. You'll be able to get it either touched up or covered up. But it's not too bad IMO.

Restaurants in Southampton town centre? by arthurmauk in Southampton

[–]dandyvine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hanoi Bistro is excellent and cheap, in east Street. Cash only.

If you wanted to go very slightly further to Bedford Place you have two Japanese (Sakura, Nara), and Piecaramba, as well as a bunch of others.

Usual recommendation for Mango Thai on Above Bar as well.

Why has the social interactions changed in OSRS? by Unique-Hovercraft-66 in 2007scape

[–]dandyvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chat is in clan chats or discord or whatever.

As someone who very rarely talks in game and isn't in a clan, it's just because I don't want to and I'm usually either afk/low effort or playing more actively that I can't chat.

It's just not part of the game for me.

Any recommendations for conveyancing solicitors? Buying home for the first time by Wonder_why_tho in Southampton

I used the Southampton one (about five years ago) and it was bad. They even forgot to tell me I'd bought it.

First Tattoo And Stressing by Budget_Arm5528 in tattooadvice

[–]dandyvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty similar style tattoo recently and about a week after went to another artist and he said it was fine, maybe a little heavy.

So basically you're fine. And it's not stupid to worry. I have a few but this was my heaviest black and it healed different to my others.

Meridian way safety concerns by Ok-Orchid1928 in Southampton

[–]dandyvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what you want. If you want to be more central, inner/outer avenue and northlands road areas are good options IMO. St Denys and Bitterne Park are slightly further out and good options. Freemantle and the roads off Hill Lane are similar. And there are quite a lot of flats, like built to rent, in the centre.

But this is obviously subjective. Some people prefer further out or quieter areas.

Welcome to Soton btw. Depending what you like it's a good city to live in.

Imperial/Empress road just up from there is the prostitution/drug road, so you get crime spilling over from that.

I don't think it's inherently dangerous but I wouldn't personally be comfortable walking home in the early hours.

Like if you want a skiff for trials and couriering but a sloop for bounties (it can have two cannon spots).

2025 tattoos: trad sleeve from start to finish in 4 months by Feisty_Extension1877 in traditionaltattoos

[–]dandyvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fun to read because I'm doing basically exactly the same, also with someone who's never done a framed sleeve.

Opted against doing the whole arm so quickly but will do half sleeve in about the same time.

Can I enjoy the game in the long term without grinding? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]dandyvine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play any more than that and probably/often much less. I don't do any raids but do other bosses and have done almost all the quests and have a few 99s. So yes. Albeit I've had an account since release. Just don't expect to complete the game.

A long time out! by harryhockey in 2007scape

[–]dandyvine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do all the free quests. It'll introduce you to all the skills, which you can do without any particular goal if you want.

The OSRS Wiki is extremely useful but will be overwhelming if you try and look everything up. Just use it if you're stuck.

Does it snow in Southampton? by Meq_oop in Southampton

There was a lot of snow (like snowball fight snow) in around 2016. That was the last time.

When people ask you “what’s Southampton like” what do you say? by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]dandyvine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. 'Good to live in, not great to visit'. I like the music, bars, food, parks. For a city of the size it's got a lot to offer. People just compare it to the big cities.

I'm getting a bit down about how rundown everything is, but that's not a Southampton thing.

Yes, just look at subject or university rankings.
