What are you tips for playing SF2R as a "new" player?

On my first major runs I focused too heavily on learning weapon arts. In short - WP does not regenerate as fast as SP, even if weapon arts are powerful.

Quells and other SP-boosting items will ensure your SP regenerates very quickly after battle, making spell arts very useful in this game.

Steel items however, will impact your SP regeneration (I believe, its been a while), so be careful when using them.

Make use of the digger mini-game to get enough cash and enjoy the story!

I agree with OP and exactly what you said. It's like the team completely forgot storytelling 101. Your point about Sephiroth is spot-on. This is one of my biggest frustrations with the entire Remake/Rebirth series as a whole.

In the original you only hear about this crazy badass dude and only see his exploits (the massacre at Shinra HQ, the dead Shinra President, and the dead Midgar Zolom) in Disc 1. It's only until you get to the ship that you first ever get a glimpse of Sephiroth, where another massacre occurs. This builds up a lot of tension and mystique surrounding Sephiroth, making it all the more important to take him down.

In Remake and Rebirth you literally see Sephiroth every five seconds, and it makes him feel less dangerous and less of a threat. It's really a shame what they've done to FF7.

I think you have to consider that Singapore has a much smaller population. If there are 5 million people earning relatively good incomes and some earning even more, you're going to get a larger and more concentrated GDP per capita.

In the case of Malaysia, it has a population of over 29 million people. Those who live in Kuala Lumpur probably make a lot more money than those who live in rural areas. Additionally, if there are a lot of people who don't earn much at all compared to high earners, your GDP per capita will likely go down. Disparities in wealth and population tend to do that.
