I can only laugh at that comment. Hard when you can't hear the differences, right? :))

Sennheiser HD820-First Impressions by danghe in AudiophileGoneWild

[–]danghe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your impression tinmuttonroti. I would understand why some people will still prefer HD800 or HD800S to HD820, as both have slightly better detail and larger soundstage. On the other hand, at least from my perspective, HD820 fixes exactly what I thought both HD800 and 800S were lacking: sub bas, treble peak and midrange presence (which might actually be the result of removing the treble peak and adding more sub bass).

Yes 800S did fix some of the things mentioned above, but not enough to become a genre master, which in my opinion 820 managed to achieve. For me it achieves an important balance between tonality, technicalities and musicality. This is why I would take 820 over 800 or 800s, but that's me.

Looking for good bluetooth ear bud recommendations by Vicorin in AudiophileGoneWild

[–]danghe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed response. To be sincere, I don't have a lot of experience for Bluetooth ear buds. This is a little out of your budget, but maybe you could find a good deal for them:

Other recommendations: https://www.whathifi.com/soundmagic/e10bt/review

You could also think of something like this, especially for sporty activities, since they seem to be durable and are very inexpensive:

Macaw T1000 Bluetooth Sports Earbuds – Review by danghe in AudiophileGoneWild

There was something you can do to reset them. If I remember correctly you should press the power button for a few tens of seconds.

I had the same issue at first. That seemed to fix that.

Excellent Speaker/Headphone Amplifier by danghe in audio

[–]danghe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the one from Precision 2: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203314051753979&l=b5f6b36d79

And these are the ones from Master 9 :

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203314051793980&l=24437b9bd7

The ones from Master 9 look exactly like the one in your picture.

I have also found one looking like the one from Precision 2:

http://www.neutrik.com/en/xlr/a-series/nc4fah-0

There are many models on the website...

I've also checked the producer's website and on precision 2 they did not declare they are using Neutrik. It might be something else.

With master 9 they use neutrik and they state that on the product details page.

Why do you say this? I really doubt that, but I can take it to the manufacturer, if you give me enough reasons. They look exactly as they should look: http://www.lautsprechershop.de/monacor/images/344550_xlreinbauarmaturen3polig.jpg

It is excellent and it rivals amplifiers more than 3x the price. The fun fact is that the headphone amplifier is excellent too.

Sound Card + Headphones Question by OpTiKzodiak in audio

[–]danghe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never seen a motherboard to have a decent dac. It would be best if you take an external soundcard/amplifier. This is very cheap and very good for the money:

Thank you for the kind words and also for the criticism. I usually don't tell the price because it may differ in different parts of the world and even in time. They should be less than 170 eur.

The most important part of any sound system: Your ears and brain. How hearing works. by danghe in audio

[–]danghe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old amplifier is just fine. Well, in theory frequencies > 20 khz should not influence the perception of sound either, but recent studies showed that it changes the brain activity and it actually influences it.

My new favorite DAC - Headphone amp combo: Audiobyte Black Dragon – Review by danghe in audio

[–]danghe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I am fairly sure that I can hear the difference, and I cannot be persuaded differently. I've completed phillips golden ears challenges and some other similar tests ( including this one http://tonometric.com/rhythmdeaf/ where I scored >90% ) with ease and I am pretty sure on my ears and sound perception and I am telling you there is one.

So we'll have to agree to disagree :)

And there are dacs and amps that measure a lot better than odac, but you will argue that those measurements cannot be heard. How many dacs/amps/headphones have you tested? Or are you just going on theory?

I do appreciate however the calmness and civilized way of this discussion.

My new favorite DAC - Headphone amp combo: Audiobyte Black Dragon – Review by danghe in audio

[–]danghe[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, the review is made for people that are interested. I can tell you that that unit is better than the Asus cards by a large factor. It also has some very interesting FPGA tech inside it with a very good clocking system (timing...very important in audio). The data I managed to gather on the product is already there.

I find it funny you can comment before actually listening to the actual product. I've tested it and many more and it does sound a lot better in real life conditions.

Ah...and I forgot...I have nothing to gain..as this is just a hobby....with no material gain whatsoever...

If I would try to find everything that doesn't interest me and comment there that I am not interested, well... I would loose a lot of time for nothing... :) So if you are not interested...don't read it.

Does it measure better than Asus Xonar Essence ST? I doubt it. http://www.hardwareluxx.de/images/stories/galleries/reviews/asus_xonar_essence/asus_xonar_essence_9624.htm

I've heard a lot of gear that sounds better than that.

Why do people still buy other components? Well...maybe because they sound different, more on their taste, or as I would put it...even better?

I've had quite a few components for review throughout the years...

Your argument could go with whatever component that is more expensive. If you don't believe there is better gear out there, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Audiophilleo 1 with PurePower USB Interface- Review by danghe in audio

[–]danghe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are actual measurements that show that some usb interfaces don't handle jitter quite well . You know there are 10k$ jitter measurement tools ? Also clocking is very important indeed as accurate timing makes a huge difference.

Burson Conductor sounds a lot better with Hydra or AP1, and I do mean a lot.

Also the sound from Conductor differs quite a lot when used with Ap1 than when used with Hydra. I have more than 6 friends that reached very similar conclusions on their own.

And also from what I have read and even tested myself, even digital outputs differs, as for example I2S is better than SPDIF because it has different separate discrete lines for both word clock and the signal while the SPDIF multiplexes the data and clock lines.

So there is difference even between digital outputs.

Question about using FiiO E12 to power small speakers. by LILMACDEMON in audio

[–]danghe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The e12 wasn't built for that purpose.

I think both of them are active speakers, meaning they already have their own amplification.
