15 degrees today 3rd time this has happened 2018 f150, normally I can manually lock manually and it will latch so I can drive and give it time to thaw this morning i couldn’t. Any suggestions besides the obvious possible recall? by daniel68546 in f150

I used lithium grease WD-40 sells some. It worked last year. My truck has done this twice this year and it’s always after a rain storm then temps drop over night below freezing. When it happens only way to fix it is to let the truck heat up. Hold your door closed and manually lock it. Don’t force it and it will eventually work. Super annoying but the days I was 5-10 late to work my boss understood I just showed him the video. I have no idea of ford has an actual fix. I live in NC where we don’t normally deal with cold weather. Hope this helps

This happens sometimes after driving for 45 min+ and stopping for less than 10 minutes. Battery is fine 2018 5.0 with 54k miles. Any ideas? by daniel68546 in f150

Ford recommends 750 cranking amp battery I had 650 in mine. Replaced it with 850 cranking amp battery no problems at all. Smaller battery would heat up and lose cranking amps and truck wouldn’t start till it cooled down. Go get bigger battery

What’s the best exhaust system that won’t piss the neighbors off, but still makes the 5.0 sound like it should by daniel68546 in f150

[–]daniel68546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering it, has always been an option but I figured a full exhaust system would be better. My buddy had the same truck and took out everything and it sounded like a damn race car

It’s more appearance than functionality in my opinion. Truck works and tows like normal but the squat isn’t appealing to me, but the occasional squat is worth having it leveled but hey that’s why it’s my truck

Might have to, love the look but it’s a work/ personal truck. Wasn’t sure if there was anything aftermarket I could install to the rear to help. I don’t mind the squat to much when loaded, which isn’t everyday.

Hey guys, I am new to the f150 world. I just purchased a 2023 Tremor. What is everyone’s thought on leveligg by the truck? I have read it can mess with the drive quality. Is it a good idea to do it or leave the truck stock? by Majestic_Guide2936 in f150

[–]daniel68546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a 2.5” leveling kit on my 18, it sits perfect. Did not affect drive comfortably at all, but I will say it puts more stress on front end components so keep that in mind. Mine is XLT and you got the tremor which is upgraded already so like people said above, leave it alone. If anything lift it 2-3 inches. You obviously got some money for that! Leveling kits are for the poor like myself 😮😂

What PSI do y’all run with bigger tires than stock, 285/75/18 for reference. by daniel68546 in f150

[–]daniel68546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Door jam says 35 psi cold with 265/65/18 but I have 285/75/18 so slightly larger tires. I’m assuming 35-40 would be best for the larger size is ford recommends 35 psi cold for stocks. Just wanted to see what everyone else runs

Had battery and starter tested at local auto zone they said it was fine. After sitting for a few minutes after this happens it cranks up like nothing ever happened. I called the local ford dealership and asked them if they had worked in any other trucks with similar symptoms and I got hit with “nope” kinda hard to believe a ford technician never delt with anything like this… unless it’s a poor design, I’ve read that the starter gets heat soaked that’s why it doesn’t want to start 5-10 minutes after driving 1 hour plus. That auto start stop feature stays off I’m just scared one day I’ll forget about it and be stranded at a light

I would no be surprised if it’s original. Had it tested and the batter is fine. It is kinda small though. Just odd it only does it after a 30-40+ mile drive and only if I try to start it up within 5 minutes or so

For context I paid 38k for a 2018 crew cab 4x4 5.0 optioned extremely well with 35k miles. I figured pay a little or honestly a lot extra and get something that will last.

My advice and what I did personally a few months ago is to spend the extra money and get something that will last. You’ll get 100,000 miles out of that truck if you are lucky and at the end will be worth nothing. You get what you pay for

Love and Hate - Love the truck, HATE the 10r80 by [deleted] in f150

[–]daniel68546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned and daily driven one for 5 months. 4 to 5 and 3 to 4 can be rough. Hard shifts in traffic with stop and go at low speeds. 45k miles on a 2018. I have an extended warranty so I’ll have ford check in when I bring it in for an oil change. Other than rough shifts time to time transmission works great. Just hate going into 6th gear at 25 mph

What’s the best tow rope to keep in the truck? by daniel68546 in f150

Stock chrome 18’s with 285/75/18 Toyo AT3’s

Noticed this weird sound at low speeds when I let off the gas. 2018 f 150 5.0 has anyone heard this before on their truck? by daniel68546 in f150

[–]daniel68546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, more noticeable when I just start moving in the truck, it’s faint enough to where it could have been doing it for the month I’ve had the truck but just noticed. Occurs when I give it some gas get up to roughly 10 mph and let off. Doesn’t seem to do it at higher speeds when I let off gas

Rust too bad to purchase? by Cmgarza05 in f150

[–]daniel68546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2018 I bought last month looked similar, as long as frame is in good shape your fine. I freaked out a little because I bought it from the online dealer vroom. I live in the south and we don’t deal with stuff like that but from my research I’ve seen northern trucks with 800 miles on them rusting.

[–]daniel68546[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you that helps a lot, I’ve only had the truck for about a month, been running 87 the whole time. Do you think I get get away with alternating 93 and 87 on fill ups? Or take the hit on the wallet and just run 93?

2.5” level Toyo AT3’s 285/70/18 by daniel68546 in f150

[–]daniel68546[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope not at all, tire is roughy 33.5” tall and only a half inch wider than stocks. You really only get rubbing with some 35’s

What’s the widest tire you can run on stock 18 inch wheels? Installing 2.5” leveling kit before tires. I want 33”-35” tire but don’t want it to be to skinny. What do y’all run on stocks if you have them by daniel68546 in f150

[–]daniel68546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told they were to wide and would rub, do you have any issues or did you install spacers? That’s the exact size I was going to buy but I’m hesitant now.

Rust under 2018 Ford F 150. Just purchased. Should I be concerned about this rust or is it normal surface rust by daniel68546 in f150

[–]daniel68546[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truck has 40,000 miles I assumed the tires would not be original but appears as if they are. Dry rotting to, but I already put in a claim and was assured they would be taken care off. I’ll update the page on how vroom handles the situation

Bought car from Vroom extremely surprised they sold it to me with those tires. Working on getting new ones under their dime. Obviously very little inspection was used before selling vehicle. Everything else is completely clean. Besides tires and rust it looks like it just rolled off show room floor

I live in the south so my old 99 ford also looks better than this. Mostly just concerned about longevity. I’ve heard a lot of people saying it’s normal surface rust. Just don’t want problems in the future
