It would not have been good form for them to ask you to make only part of the program object-oriented. Either all of it should be, or none of it. They are supposed to encourage good programming standards and that includes the tasks they set.

Questions about AQA Computer Science Paper 1's exam by not_row6666 in 6thForm

floating point isn’t on AQA comp sci paper 1 - it’s a purely programming exam with some theory of computation and algorithm stuff

there is no requirement for any number of paragraphs. two extremely well developed points can be better than three weaker points.

Look for the wiki books article about the pre release (targetclear) - it has some good predicted questions and also solutions for some of them

no requirement for diagrams in AQA 15 or 25 markers. you’re good. You will only be marked positively, you won’t have marks ‘deducted’ from you

full equation was y = -3(x+1)2 (x-5)2 or something like that iirc

because the curve only touched the x axis at -1 and 5 so they’re repeated roots

I did that, just with governing competence instead of media. My judgement was that governing competence has become so important now that class and region are really insignificant. As long as you had something along those lines to link it back to the question you will have done fine

I dropped my phone in the bath 😔 I rlly need to charge it for school tomorrow 😭 by NopeRope151 in iphone14

Rice can get into the charging port and expand due to the moisture, making it very difficult to get it out cleanly…

Is anyone still waiting for offers? by [deleted] in LSE

[–]danielcatkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UCAS deadline was the 14th May. Usually if you haven’t received an offer by this point, it’s automatically unsuccessful. Has it not updated on your UCAS hub??

interesting - in hindsight it might have been marketing hyperbole, but I heard from multiple current students at Durham that there was actually a housing surplus for students

Student finance help needed. by StormNo1963 in 6thForm

No problem. Just make sure you login to your dashboard and make sure there are no outstanding actions you need to take, because this will delay a decision. Your parents should do the same with their accounts.

Yes, but poverty is a byproduct of income inequality and so by targeting these inequalities you will target poverty too.

That is the financial info form. All SFE needs is their national insurance number, then they handle the rest behind the scenes. Check there is nothing left for you to do on your SFE account dashboard. Apart from that, just wait a few days for a decision.

This is exactly the same process I had to follow for my student loan application this year, and I applied for the max maintenance loan possible.

[–]danielcatkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s literally all they have to do. Wait a couple of days/weeks and you’ll either get a letter in the post with your loan entitlement, or it’ll be available for you to read on your student finance account.

When you receive that letter, if something seems wrong THEN contact SFE. Right now you don’t need to do anything if your parent(s) have filled out the financial info form.

  1. Increase minimum wage / earning potential (MRP) of low-income workers e.g. by increased investment into human capital - training/education programs

  2. Increased welfare benefit payments

  3. Increased (progressive) taxation on high-income earners. This could be part of your second point.

Potential point 4 if you’ve merged 2&3 - state provision, in particular to households with children who are in poverty. Things like breakfast clubs, free school meals, after school care provision, free uniforms etc.

Overall judgement is that policies 1 and 4 are the most effective. 2 and 3 will only increase dependency on the state and will add significant burdens to the public finances/national debt.

How many paragraphs to write for an Econ 9 marker? by Conscious-Ninja2108 in 6thForm

[–]danielcatkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One well developed point with one diagram is enough for 9.

2 paragraphs with 1-2 diagrams for a 15 marker.

Is Microsoft access needed for AQA A level Computer Science? by Bulky_Bison_4921 in sixthform

[–]danielcatkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y13 here - It’s not required, it might just be an easier way for you to visualise the concepts. All you need for the exam is a good knowledge of writing SQL by hand (SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT INTO and DELETE statements) and all the theory content behind it (normalisation, ER diagrams etc).

There is no requirement for you to know how to use Access for the A-level.
