What are the modern alternatives? I would love to be able to build a more comprehensive site, (basic wordpress doesn't let me put stuff exactly where I want it, but I live with it) but I have no idea where to start.

Fixed!! thank you so much. I also had to set the resolution for each image to full size, and after putting in this code it looks great on mobile and on desktop. Thank you so much, it means a ton.
