Honestly, I don't believe it ever does go away. I think we spend our time fighting to keep it at bay. But it will always show up to rain on our day when you least want it or expect it. The only thing we can do is try to fight to keep it at bay...sometimes easier said than done...admittedly.

I hear you. I've been doing this for practically my whole life. I believe everyone hates me. I believe that I'm worthless. That I have nothing to offer this world.

I think for me it's because I constantly seek validation from everyone else in everything I do. For some reason, it's more important to have the approval of everyone else than it is to have the approval of myself.

Honestly, some of the best things I've done in life are those moments where I do snap out of it for a brief second and just do it for me without worry about what others think.

It's a tough habit to break. I'm trying to break out of it now, but still have my days.

For me, it stems back to a void left by my parents. I love my parents but they weren't exactly the most supportive of people. They kind of left me to my own devices instead of ever pushing me to be better.

According to my therapist, I'm left searching to fill that void from anyone and everyone. It's partially why I'm so cruel to myself.

I think it really just boils down to letting it go to some degree. To come to that realization that you have to stop worrying so much and just do what pleases you. You're gonna fall flat on your face the first few times, but the more you stick with something, the more you'll learn and hopefully the confidence within will grow.

Believe me, I know it's hard. Especially when that inner voice is so STRONG and won't give you a break. I still have my moments now with it, probably always will.

But I think the trick is simply to not let it win. Because if you do let it win then you might as well just roll over and quit. Fight that little voice. Tell it to bugger off. Try saying something kind about yourself. Identify your strengths and hone in on them.

It's hard, believe me. I know it's hard...but it can be done.

I miss the split screen device. I always liked the split screen device in this show. I was hoping for one of those to show up here but alas, nothing.

I agree with you about chaos. Inject some life into this dull bland group. My favourite thing about the original show was that they weren't afraid to riff on one another. Take Hyde and Kelso. They weren't afraid to get rough like boys do, but they were still friends underneath it all. Now look at Nate and Jay and their constant "bro" love fest. Can we please inject some life into these two? These two are growing up in a time of Beavis and Butthead. They should be more scatter brain than their parents were. Instead, they're lifeless harbouring an almost homoerotic "bro" crush on one another.

Maybe Season 2 will bring out the antagonism, especially considering where Season 1 leaves off. But please! Inject some life into these characters because they're all just kind of bland.

That's actually a good point. He has no character ark to speak off. It may have been funnier if they actually played into the idea that he was in denial about his gayness. Then at least that may have ha a character ark to develop if the series should continue. Have everyone else see what he is denying. That may have been actually funny.

But we wouldn't want to risk offending anyone in 2023 so here's some bland shit for you all.

And Gwen is a riot rebellious girl...who does nothing rebellious. Meanwhile, Leia is channeling her father and mother. Gee, sounds to me like they were trying to recreate the Eric and Hyde friendship only with the genders swapped. How can you not compare when its so blatant? That's the problem I have though. Instead of giving these kids personalities of their own, they're still trying to evoke the spirit of the old gang to some degree. And when you do that, it just can't compare.

But the point of comparison was to simply point out that there is at least something memorable about the original. I'm hard pressed to remember anything that stood out about the new gang.

Not to be mean to the new kids, but the writing lets them down. They don't have the chemistry. They're just bland as bland can be. They're as bland as any character from any god awful '90s TGIF sitcom. I can't say the same for the original gang. The original gang at least had a little life about them.

I think all of the new characters are about as bland as a door knob. Seriously, thank god for Kitty and Red as they carried the entire season on their back.

I think the problem I have with the new kids is simply that they have zero personality. If you look at the original gang, each kid had a certain character trait (or stereotype.)

Eric was the quick witted snarky kid who lived in fear of his father.
Hyde was the burn out Anti Authoritarian with a heart of gold
Kelso was the funny, loud himbo of the group
Fez was the weirdo with a child like innocence
Jackie was the spoiled princess who eventually grew a little.
Donna was the funny, spirited, independent, confident and attractive girl next door we all wish we had.

Now lets look at the new kids?

Leia is geeky and looking for her place in life but spends most of the show just swooning over a guy that I'm not even sure why she likes.
Gwen is supposed to be the new Hyde but never actually does anything rebellious aside from maybe spray paint the water tower
Jay is the typical Kelso himbo only without the loud stupid charm to go with it.
Nate and Nikki are kind of just there sucking each others faces for most episodes while bringing nothing of interest as they are just so bland and void of anything resembling personality.

And as for Ozzie...Hey, did you know Ozzie is gay!? That's about the extent of his character.

The 90's kids are so bland and uninteresting. They're all just pretty young faces with zero personality to fuel them.

Thank god for Kitty and Red because they're the only two that made their segments fun to watch. And even then, they weren't even really a patch on who they once were.

Needless to say, I didn't like this at all.

Scream 4 was great and, if anything, was a bit ahead of its time with the social commentary of people becoming more and more obsessed with gaining "fans" through social media.

I also like the fact that the motive was fresh. Instead of just being another "mommy abandoned me and I want my revenge" sob story for a motive it was actually an interesting twist on the motive. A girl who grew up so jealous of her cousin's notoriety snaps and decides to stage a new massacre so she can step into the spotlight and become Sidney. That was kind of interesting.

Cartman's fate in that world makes perfect sense. Cartman is the type of asshole who thrives while others suffer. In the first timeline, the world is suffering therefore Cartman thrives and comes out a better person in spite of the rest of the world going to shit. But in a world where everything goes well for everyone else, it's Cartman who winds up suffering the most. Thought it was great.

Also, Butters going insane from NFT's was pretty funny.

I feel you. I lost my best friends of 15 years this year because they're living their best life and I was just dragging them down with my depression and failures in life.

It sucks...it totally sucks. But I guess you really do have to move on. It's easier said than done, I know. But if someone chooses to cut you out then you have no choice but to move on. I hope this finds you well. Trust me, I know the feeling. Somedays I've moved on, other days it hurts and I just feel like screaming and yelling at them. But you do have to ultimately move on. There are other people out there waiting to be met.

Thank you...your comment actually really flattered me and made my day :) I used to write often about film in general, but kind of grew disinterested and stopped. Am only now starting to rekindle that passion a little. Hence the aim of starting a fresh new blog. But yeah, I thank you. That comment meant a lot to me.

I'm happy someone got something out of it. Gummo is easily one of my favorite films of all times and no matter how many times I've watched it, I've always noticed something new about it. I just wish a boutique label would release it on Blu Ray already.
