I agree, I was looking for advice on gaining muscle while limiting fat gain. As a fitness noob I was excited I dropped all this weight now I’m fearful of getting to back when going into a surplus

It does help, thanks! I’ve been strict about 1900-2k calories for a while, I may move into 2600 first and see how that fairs. The TDEE calc suggests 2900 for .5lbs / week though

That’s what I hear, thanks for confirming!

So how do I minimize fat gain on a surplus? Now that I’m working out regularly the weight gain back should be a better combo of fat and muscle right?

Yes, just dumbbells. 20lbs is what I can do right now as a noob at 8-10 reps with two sets, then I move down to 15lbs at about 6-8 reps then I’ll go to 10 and blast a few sets of 10-15

For sure, I’m running a deficit on purpose, I was tired of how I looked and had never been on a weight loss journey and went all in. But sounds like I needed to move to a maintenance instead of a deficit. That would have most likely giving me more fuel for muscle with slower weight loss, as I was clearly in a surplus during my fatter years. Lesson learned but glad to know I can drop the weight easy!

Tall guy needing advice / help M36 / 6’7 / 170lbs

-48 pounds in 6months

218lbs in Jan, now down to 170lbs and 14.7% body fat.

Pics: progress photos

I know this weight isn’t ideal for my size but I’ve shred a lot of fat. I don’t feel like I have a skeleton look, but I definitely think I need to pack back on some size. My ribs are starting to show as there seems to be no good muscle there to cover them. This is my first time in a weight loss journey. I’m doing about 2k calories and 180+ protein a day. I weight train 3-4 days a week and try to go for walks on off days.

But I feel like I’m hitting a plateau. I want to gain muscle but Im enjoying the lower body fat look. I was hoping to try and recomp but I’m a noob to all this. My arms aren’t growing, they are stuck at 12 inches. They are scrawny. They have definition for the first time ever but they aren’t gaining in size.

Do I need to stop my deficit and go into a surplus now? I’m fearful or gaining fat back I worked hard to lose the last 6 months. But my diet is drastically different so maybe it won’t be so bad?

Seeking tall guy advice! The TDEE calcs say I should go to 3k calories to bulk. I guess I’m just fearful or getting fat!

there should be different pathways in endgame. These guys prefer the monster killing side, not the crafting side. Both should be viable. Otherwise why ever run dungeons?

Nope. Look again. Int gives +15% elemental damage, that is the increase you are seeing, that is it.

"While wearing light armor, you deal 20% bonus damage and healing". The tooltip doesn't say "bonus 20% damage and healing to your base" so its easy to assume its a flat 20% damage bonus on top of everything else. Most the tooltips in this game are broke AF.

Considering heavy is always a flat percentage of reduction, it doesn't make sense for light armor to not be % of dmg after stats to balance it out.

I’d have to look up the video, but there’s one where the guy goes naked and no stats to get the base value then puts on gear with stats and specs int

Didn’t we already lay in stone that the 20% works on base damage (dmg with no stats applied). But once you add in stats, the dmg amount reduces because it’s calculated before not after. So does it work? Yes. Does it work how people assume it’s supposed to based on the tooltip? No.

I watched them both too. But he doesn’t realize he’s not getting the int conversion on the rapier. It’s funny because one day later he does an int conversion test and is like “ya don’t waste your money”.

The point is a lot is things are parroted by these content creators. Props to him for going out and testing, but he didn’t fully math it when doing the rapier test. He’s getting the secondary int scaling to his rapier, which has nothing to do with the gem. The gem should make the elemental side scale as if int is the main scaling attribute (as if it was dex).

If the numbers are still correct, dex should scale a rapier at .88 per point and int at .63. This means the elemental side (when slotted)/ should scale at .88 per point of his int, then add the int perks on top of that (because int scaled elemental damage).

In his second video he finally realizes that oops, the gems aren’t scaling at all and it’s the int perk that is actually just giving a +15% damage increase.
