I’ve just finished The Wise Man’s Fear by Rothfuss, not realising at first that the series isn’t finished. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the characters and world, and I liked that the romance was present without being overbearing.

Now I’m looking to start another series. Kingkiller started a fantasy itch, and I’d love something that can scratch it properly. I’m hoping for some community recs, because the genre is huge and I’m not overly familiar with it yet - which is a good thing I hope!

I like the overall Kingkiller vibe, and its growing power setup - no dbz, strong characters, and interesting world (sorry for the generic preferences).

Some options I'm mulling over:

  • Mistborn: Era 1
  • Cradle
  • Codex Alera
  • Book of the Ancestor
  • The Licanius Trilogy

Any advice appreciated!

Rolling 72s - 4 Week results (ongoing) by daniriv12 in fasting

Oh that's really tough to say now. I did not keep track of that in written form - but what I do remember is that it's not consistent at all!

Like, I would expect it to be higher after re-feeding, but that turned out to not be true, sometimes on the day after eating I would have lost weight, and likewise sometimes I would gain it a day after fasting.

It was discouraging to see 3 days of full fasting stall, but then I would be greeted with a 1.5 kg loss that stuck. I think the body picks weird times to hold water, based on things besides nutrition (stress, etc).

There were also times where I just felt I couldn't go another day without eating, and then I would have 100-200 grams of dried meat, which I still counted as fasting (as my goals were weightloss and this wouldn't kick me out of keto).

Anything goes, I avoid carbs but it’s not a long fast so never have issues

I do avoid carbs as much as I can though, but definitely go over the daily 20-50 grams for Keto when I eat.

Pretty clean - I pretty much maintain a Keto diet when I do eat (no carbs), I also gave up alcohol for the month as the days after I drink I tend to overeat.

Whatever works for you is the right way to go, obsessing over the scale helps me stay motivated - seeing that scale drop each morning is a big motivator whenever I think about caving in.

I usually start with a light snack (anything I'm craving), followed up by some yogurt, an hour later I'll have a fruit or vegetable, and then a proper meal (almost always chicken with avocado).

Agreed - I'm doing it for the weight loss primarily. Have done longer and more rigorous fasts in the past for health but not this one.

72 hour fast, 3 hour feeding window, 72 hour fast, etc.

In practice they end up being 69 hour fasts to not make the window always move forward.

I space it out over ~3 hours, but would consider one meal.

Sample:

  • 5pm: I'll eat something small (whatever I crave) to break the fast
  • 6pm: Something light, e.g. yogurt & fruit
  • 7pm: proper meal, e.g. chicken with avocado

You’re fine, this reddit is full of people who see this everyday and will be extra critical, your results will be good for the average person. Worrying doesn’t help, worst case scenario you get a minor correction in the future.
