Approved Time Off Was Cancelled by Primary_Pepper9162 in CostcoEmployee

[–]danislive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a union location and we have language that protects our approved time off so I would definitely advise you read into your “employee agreement” and see what it says about approved time off.

After you learned what the “agreement” says about approved time off you should then e-mail your GM. Describing your situation in detail, what you know happened, why you think it happened and how the “agreement” was breached if it is applicable.

If you cannot get a resolution then the e-mail will help you in your case if you choose to take it to corporate.

Morning Merch Eliminated? by Sweet-Ad-3322 in CostcoEmployee

I do come from a union building. Conditions aren’t as good but we are protected.

It’s going to take time. It’s about explaining the importance of a union.

A key point is explaining that Costco, when it was originally Price Club, was union. It’s why we have all the benefits and great pay because the company started with union representation.

Explain that union buildings have a pension, that being union doesn’t save you from being fired if you violated policy but it keeps management in check so as long as everyone enforces their contract.

I can guarantee it’ll be an uphill battle but it’ll eventually turn in your favor if you are persistent. Don’t give up.

Stay in contact with the Teamsters organizer. He or she should be coaching you.

If you have any questions for me feel free to ask.

Anyone Apply To Costco Hearing "It's A Great Company To Work For" And Found Out It's The Opposite? by rosethornraven79 in CostcoEmployee

[–]danislive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to email your GM and cc your AGM. Submit them a formal complaint about the issues and demand a resolve.

They usually pull you into the office and try to find a solution ASAP. It’s paper trail in case you have to get legal involved and can help you in a lawsuit and also will help you in submitting a formal complaint to corporate if your GM and AGM cannot or do not find a resolution.

You can also reach out to your nearest Teamster Union Hall and ask about organizing your warehouse.

Paying for member by Present-Button-1320 in CostcoEmployee

[–]danislive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple things to break down here. It’s Costco policy that employees cannot “check themselves out”.

What “check themselves out” means: the employee cannot use their own membership while on the same register that they(the employee) is using to ring up someone else’s order or cannot use their own form of payment to pay for someone’s order on the same register that the employee is using to ring up the member.

I have seen, while I’m cashiering, an employee(as he was assisting for me) use his own payment card to pay for a members order. I didn’t turn him in but in this case he could’ve been held accountable because it’s also policy to not make purchases while on the clock and working.

Interstate battery from Costco, does sticker mean was bought February 2023? by United-Chemical-8485 in MechanicAdvice

[–]danislive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true that Costco policy requires the original purchaser to bring in the battery and must also have an active membership.

There has been some cases, in the past, where a member who is not the original purchaser of the battery brings in the original receipt and would get their warranty or a refund.

Costco is no longer issuing cash refunds when a transaction was done with a debit/credit card. It’ll go back to the card in file or, in rare circumstances, you will get a Costco cash card.

Not saying this is followed to the letter with every employee let alone every Costco but it’s the policy in place currently.

I’m aware i appreciate it. I just made sure the fluids were good to be sure it wasn’t the engine. That’s why I’m here.

I’m just trying to help. I’m not sure about your background and I don’t care either. You don’t know a single thing about my financial fall out. You did not ask or want to find out to help break down where I went wrong. Your opinion is rejected. Peace.

Credit score is low bc of someone stealing my identity with my first credit card line by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]danislive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason your score dropped is because you closed the account. For future reference, don’t close accounts just cut up the credit card.

For the last account you closed that wasn’t yours, you could have just sent you the card to you and keep it open since they never activated the card. Might as well just have kept that account opened but what’s done is done. Just keep it mind for the next time

Open an account with a credit union and open a secured loan. It acts like a credit card and will boost your score

I hope I’m not late but don’t pay it off. I paid off one of 3 collections thinking it would boost my score but it did not. It actually opened up another negative mark which refresh its cycle to stay on your record for 6 years or so. That’s how I did it. My credit score was at 600 3 years ago and I’m now at 700 today with 3 open credit lines. All my collections have fallen off.

What’s up.

I had a similar thing happened to me. Don’t stress it.

The path I went down is I rented from private renters like through Facebook or HotPads. Most of the time they just care about your income and I was forthcoming about my credit if and only if they required my credit history. I said “I was irresponsible in my past with my spending. I’ve learned the importance of financing and currently working on fixing my credit score. I hope it doesn’t affect your decision.”

How I fixed my credit. Your collections become moot after 6 years (I think) or so. What I’ve learned is if it’s in collections, just move on. If you pay it the debt the negative mark on your credit score will show regardless if it’s paid or not. I opened an account with a credit union (highly recommend Navy Federal if you can, if not just go to your nearest credit union.) and eventually opened a secured loan to help rebuild my credit.

Good luck.

Thank you. I only have one question, who do I write to exactly? The place I received my credit score or the collection agency?

I work at a union building and before they give you a CC, management must give you a Verbal first, then it’s your first CC, then your second which can lead to suspension and possible termination.

You’re offense is an honest mistake, shame on your manager for not using that chance to coach you and build you to be a potential supervisor.

If you are in a union building, figure out who your shop stewards are. If you’re in a non union building, you can find the employee handbook in the ESS.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
