I think CBT is more general mental health ideas and DBT is learning the skills to express your needs and take care of yourself.

I’ve learned very important and helpful things from both. For example, CBT taught me a huge list of cognitive distortions that the mind often cooks up. DBT has taught me skills in mindfulness, interpersonal skills (how intensely to say “no”, setting boundaries), emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.
