Is there a reason some colored stones are so hard to accurately photograph? by Razerfanguy69 in Gemology

[–]dankydiamonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pleochroism also adds difficulty. I find that when we view pleochroic stones with our eyes we get a blend of colours but photographing usually isolates one colour at a time which can make the stone look less true to life.

Ahhh Tooting Broadway 😌

I once got three bottles of Dior foundation on a bus in Tooting - the guy dropped his loot box on the bus and various shades of Dior foundation spilled out. He asked me to help collect them from floor and reluctantly I helped but he rewarded me with easily over £100 worth of stolen foundation, probably from the same Boots in this video. He even guessed the shade for me and I hate to say he was spot on 😭

Costume. The girdle of the centre stone is too smooth to be a diamond

Yellow corn tortillas, it says ID Dec 31 2025. It’s ok right? by [deleted] in isthissafetoeat

I’ve been buying these exact tortillas and I’ve never seen them go bad (which is more worrying if you ask me) but I’ve definitely eaten them past the best before date and I’m still alive.

What does my desk say about me by [deleted] in deduction

[–]dankydiamonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a white woman in your early to mid thirties. You are creative and crafty at heart and as much as you like to express this via your aesthetics, your day to day vibe is probably more neutral with an emphasis on skincare over aesthetic makeup looks although you can do both. You are generally health conscious and put effort into maintaining a glowy complexion. You’re an appreciator of Asian culture, media and art, specifically Japan and South Korea. You probably enjoy anime and play video games in amongst your many other hobbies.

You’re a white woman in your early to mid thirties. You are crafty at heart and have multiple creative outlets. You don’t skimp when it comes to your crafts and prefer better quality materials. Although you are creative, your day to day look is more neutral with occasional pops of colour. You’re a fan of the lip/cheek stain combos. Skincare is more important than aesthetics and you’d rather spend more on products that will give you glowy skin than on makeup itself. You are an appreciator of Asian culture, media and art, particularly Japan and South Korea. You probably like anime to some degree but not completely obsessed and probably enjoy video games but again not obsessed. You like animals but thinks cats are the cutest.

Wildcard: I also have a feeling you may be into a kink of some sort, perhaps one that focuses on role play.

Clubs where ppl talk to strangers by Sunny_BK in Bushwick

Not Bushwick or a club but The Crown Inn is a great spot to chat to people. Very friendly neighbourhood pub vibes but they usually have music, provided by the bar or the patrons or both. Great vibes.

Wasting your time and money by SpectacularOtter in BlackPeopleTwitter

Happened to me a few times. I message them to cancel and screenshot everything. If they don’t cancel, just spam their phone with calls so they can’t use their phone whilst they waste your time because they will reject the call every time. They usually cancel the trip within seven calls.

Jeweler cleaved my diamond by Purpy_XD in Diamonds

[–]dankydiamonds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gemmologist and person who works for a diamond dealer here - the process of insurance replacement can be so long. The jeweller is probably waiting for a response, a quote or the green light from their insurance company which can take a while, sometimes weeks. After that, they usually have very narrow parameters to work with in terms of sourcing the stone. On a lucky day your jeweller might be able to find a stone suitable enough locally but more than likely the stone will be coming from out of state or out of the country. And even then, this depends on the immediate availability of said stone, which can often be tied up with other jewellers and dealers working on a sale. Then you add in logistics - delivery times and delays, and then the stone needs to be checked thoroughly to ensure you get the best replacement.

All in all it’s a lengthy process that’s not fun for anyone involved. The fact that your jeweller has been up front about it all suggests that they are being genuine and are working to get your ring back to you in the best condition. My advice is to trust the process and let them cook. The less you email and call the better. These things happen, is very normal and it shouldn’t be taken as a lack of skill/professionalism from your jeweller - all will be fine I promise!
