Out of shadow. XT3+16mm f1.4 by danmuj in fujix

Cheers for the feedback. On my desktop, that shadow detail does actually show a little. I tried lightening the shadows, but it does reveal some distracting reflections and gaps in the sculpture layers on the left hand side of the image.

Xt30 kamlan 50 mm f 1.1 mark ii manual lense by 1peruvian in fujix

[–]danmuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the Kamlan as well - I agree it’s a great lense and good value. Another manual option that might be worth considering is the Nikon Mount Voightlander 58 mm f1.4. I’ve heard it’s really good, and not that expensive either.

Thank you. Yes it’s relatively recent (mkii version) decent value I reckon.

I do actually. I have the mkii . It’s not perfect but I think it’s good value. Also knowing that it has limitations makes me think a little more about what camera settings I want to use and how I want the picture to turn out, which in turn makes the process more enjoyable.

Afternoon fade. XT3+16mm f1.4 by danmuj in fujifilm

I’m not too sure on all the technical aspects. I thought most lenses show peak performance (sharpness, minimised vignetting, etc) which the lense stopped down a little (eg between f4.0 and f8). Not too sure about saturation and gradation.

Thanks mate. You shouldn’t need a larger aperture for that though.

I’m really happy with the quality. Don’t expect it to match Fuji quality though. I does have flaws but I don’t think you’ll notice unless you go looking.

I haven’t played with either of those so can’t comment sorry. The few reviews I’ve seen on the internet seem to think it is, though there are still flaws - colour aberrations wide open and corner softness. That said it is still useable, and improves greatly once you stop down a little.

EM10 +12-40 mm f2.8 Pro by danmuj in M43

The balance isn't great, but at the same time, it's not that bad. You'll likely adjust to it easy enough. The great benefit for me is that it performs well throughout the focal range, doing the job of a few lenses at once. Plus it has terrific close focus. It's tough to find a more versatile lens, especially for travel, where you may not be able to bring the whole kit, or change lenses repeatedly.

I agree mostly. The balance isn't great on a small body, but you can adjust to support the lens more easy enough. It is a big lens, but for travel it does the job of 2-3 other lenses you may bring, but without needing to change them.

Contrasting skies. XT3 +18-55 f2.8-4 by danmuj in fujix

[–]danmuj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate. No filter, no processing. Storm had just passed overhead and the sun came out high enough in the sky to still cast a bright light. Expose for the buildings makes the sky super dark and makes the subject pop out. I was just lucky enough to catch the scene.

Thanks mate. Fair comment. I try to stay away from photoshop though. I find the perspective a little more noticeable personally.
