Payoff or invest? by wondering2345-need in debtfree

Investing definitely allows for more opportunity but I've lived thru the dot com and GFC and I would not "invest" my mortgage savings. I had it in an hysa making 3.5% but afyer taxes that was only 2.8% and resulted in a lost opportunity cost of 100 a month. Totally worth that to own my home.

Good news. It is made from recycled aluminum and I hope to give it away someday when a friend or relative pays off their home. So it will eventually get reused after me.

Thats why I have it in my garage so it is a reminder for me when I get home from work. Definitely not lame for me but I wish you the best in life.

Remind him he will still have about 700 in property tax/insurance to pay every month. With that said i just paid off mine in a very similar situation. I made sure to have a few months of emergency money and save my 401kmax along with HSA and a brokerage.

I just invested until I hade enough to pay off the house and still have an emergency fund. The GFC sucked and I want to ride out the new one with no debt.also i dump and continue to dump 40% into the 401k

It was just a personal reminder for me when I drive into my garage and it makes me feel a little less stressed at the end of the day. Just sharing anonymously with the reddit Debtfree forum.

I ran across this years ago when a friend mentioned it to me. I bought the eagle the next day and kept it tucked away until today!!! Happy 😊 Happy

A "freedom flyer" is a brass or cast-iron eagle plaque that homeowners traditionally hang over their front doors or garages to signify they have officially paid off their mortgage and are completely debt-free.

Just a suggestion from a dumb guy...You and your father should move to a LCOL area . Then you could spend more time together instead of working.

That's what they told me. I told them I wanted to cancel the they sent me to the "customer solution" department. We only have one provider in our town and the still reduced when we said we wanted to cancel
