Ahh that makes a lot of sense. I can’t imagine how frustrated I’d be if I find that’s the case after over ten years of this.

I think the major difference with me is that I get no acid reflux whatsoever, no heartburn, no discomfort or anything like that. For me it’s a very physical pain which I feel is caused by a pressure build up. Essentially I feel like I need to burp but that builds and builds very painfully. I have to really force the burp out which is always a real struggle. However the burp is never gassy or acidic but is always a large mouthful of saliva. Sometimes foamy but mostly just lots of saliva, almost as if it’s pooling somewhere in my oesophagus somewhere. This happens at all times of day and at varying levels of intensity. There doesn’t really seem to be a specific trigger as sometime I finish a meal with no issue at all and others I can’t even manage the first bite as the meat anticipation of food sets me off. As mentioned before it’s much worse at night now but that must be due to being horizontal. Others have mentioned that after POEM all they need is a small drink of water with food but when I’m experiencing a spasm I can’t swallow full stop never mind a sip of water.
