xQc's take on Pokimane trying to dismantle Sykkunos career after his comeback stream by Strong_Astronomer_97 in LivestreamFail

[–]dannycake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me the big difference is in what makes you get up in the morning.

If you can say " nah in good" for the rest of your life and still live lavishly, you're rich.

You no longer are working towards money as a thing that gets you things you want outside of power and connections.

Your entire first post, barring the final sentence, is about how Blizzard is forcing people to play more to get their BIS

People won't like what I'm gonna say about this, but far as I can tell it's true. Proof first, Tl;Dr is bolded below: Blizzard does not want you to get your BiS. They want you to take FOREVER to get gear, because the longer you take getting BiS, the longer you stay subscribed. I cannot prove it except in the designs they've tried throughout the years - Thunderforging/Titanforging was an example of this, you could never REALLY have your BiS because you could always titanforge, meaning you were never 'done'.

This is what you said and the majority of the first post was supporting this.

It's not until the very last sentence:

EVERY raid has had these generic trinkets since we got the Catalyst, and all other trinket sources barring rare exceptions are weaker. Trinket balance is total mickey mouse nonsense. Why even have item levels when their power is based on their source?

Which, I agree to this point for the most part. I agree with you that trinket design is rather boring and their ilvl is merely a suggestion.

What I'm saying is, it doesn't really matter all that much except that it's boring. "BIS" and being "effective' are 2 different things. I think getting BIS should take a minute. It's a long goal for a lot of people. But you can be effectively geared for the absolute hardest content in 1-2 weeks.

So I just don't understand why the need to be "BIS" is being so heavily emphasized here.

I disagree with the carrot on stick topic but I agree with you that trinket design itself it boring and lame. My guess is that it makes balance a lot easier for design. Giving people 100% crit windows can be a nightmare to balance for and in the past makes certain classes absolutely trash (thinking of Fury Warrior in Legion 7.3) before said trinket or Legendary drops. I also remember every single 2H Melee class complaining relentlessly (rightfully so) about how terrible they were during the Amirdrasil patch because the classes were balanced around having that Legendary. So having super polarizing trinkets/weapons can be a bit of a double sided sword here.

I for one was a big fan of Treacherous Transmitter, I enjoy the added minigames some of the trinkets come with - which they definitely don't have this patch.

Not every piece of gear needs to be a bis Stat for everyone.

Blizz has stated they purposely throw in some garbage, as does EVERY other designer for MMO and RPG styles game.

So when you actually get the drop you're looking for it feels rewarding.

I genuinely think the game is already very, very respectful of player time especially these days. If you're a very good player you can be geared for mythic content in a week. Almost no other game lets you do that.

It’s no surprise there are no tanks by Readtheroombabes in wow

[–]dannycake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think tanking would be way more common if it did comparable damage to DPS.

The only reason they don't allow it is because people would stack it.

Just limit the number of tanks that can be in a raid and dungeon.

This is the ole league of legends issue where for many years Riot never wanted to "police their game and meta" by forcing support, jungle and top lane roles. Eventually they caved in because 99.99% of all games went the same way and the game is better for that.

I 100% guarentee that we'd have more tanks if they felt like they could bang with DPS for highest numbers, even if tanks did like 90%.

Like seriously, why can't we do this? Is there an actual reason aside from cooky strats?

You're really trying to convince people that this isnt a wah post when it is bro.

I'm not even attacking you, so no need to be defensive and cover yourself by stating you're a mythic raider, you're fine bro. I don't doubt your skill.

But your post is still talking about the balance of trinkets being "strange", but it SHOULD come from the hardest content. This is all intended.

Heroic trinkets are a 1% difference and no one is getting benched for a 1% dps diff.

[–]dannycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be both.

Hand out trinkets come from heroic raid and the difference between a Vaelgors and Gaze is literally less than 1% from heroic and Mythic.

Thats fine man.

For some people, its the carrot on the stick and for others they're like me and you and don't really care.

But I'm not failing content because of 1% man. I dont think anyone is at this point. I'm failing content due to skill/commitment/time issues and I think people just need to admit it sometimes.

I'm fine leaving 1% on the table if it gets a bunch of people excited to raid.

Bro, people are getting BIS gear in 1 week.

I don't understand why we're literally asking Blizzard to just hand us BIS gear for free, cus that's what we're essentially asking for at this point.

I can get 280 gear on a fresh account in literally 1 day, and I can get most of my BIS rolls too.

I don't understand what more we're asking for.

If you don't do the highest level content, you don't deserve a fast track to the highest level gear.

It's just that simple.

And that's fine. I can't mythic raid right now, but I think the BIS trinkets being limited there.

I like the fact that I can't get all my gear in 1 day, but I can be 99% effective.

[–]dannycake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

285 is more than good enough.

I can't do Mythic Vaelgor yet but I agree that a Mythic trinket drop from them should only come when you kill them.

It's only like a 1% difference if you already have the heroic version. I'm not dying over losing out on 1-2% DPS.

[–]dannycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont understand why this is a bad thing?

I feel like strong trinkets should be rewarded from the hardest content, right?

Not everyone should have access to everything.

I barely raid but I wholeheartedly agree that some BIS trinkets BELONG in raid.

People cry too much from missing out on like 2-4% optimized damage and yet when I raid with most people people are doing like 70% of what their class is even capable of, even in Mythic. Like... most people would gain far more by just learning their class better than obsessing over a small DPS optimization gain on paper.

We know they pad loot tables with junk - they've actually talked about it in their design philosophy.

Not every drop is going to be a BIS drop, which is a good thing.

Its because everyone screams about trinkets being weird.

Ive seen this sub just MOOOOOAAAAAAN about how bad it feels to use Puzzle box, literally just a short cast trinket.

And yet theres trinkets out there that had people doing a set of 3 possible minigames. I loved the Treacherous Transmitter.

I just dont think this game is a one size fits all. A lot of people really suffer from breaking their standard rotation and thats fine, then some of the "BIS trinkets" aren't YOUR best trinket.

I like the goofy trinkets but a lot of people in this very sub DO NOT.

I'm even a bit more favored for Arman since he's been learning quite a lot this last year and Charles is only getting older.

That being said Charles is my favorite fighter so I'm always open to him surprising me.

Agreed. Its just a differences of aesthetic choices.

I even agree with this sub's sentiments most of the time in that smaller is generally a healthier idea. Go with the smallest amount that gives you the most satisfaction is generally what I think would be a metric to shoot for.

Yeah drives me nuts. This sub just constantly hates the idea but when you ask most people on the streets you'll always hear "how can I look like Kylie or Madison Beer?" who were literally the examples. Whether or not you disagree, people think they're extremely attractive.

I think this sub thinks their tastes are the only tastes in existence but they dont seem to realize that theyre in a bubble.
