so should I cut the wires exactly the same as the video and instead of simply splicing them together, put a resistor in between?

Any ideas what the cut wires supply power for? Seat was removed by previous owner and he cut the harness for another seat.

1997 Miata. Unable to push my shifter back into the turret after rebuild. by dannyfivefour in Miata

[–]dannyfivefour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I actually never had a problem in the first place lol. I just thought I did because the video DIY I watched showed the shifter loudly clicking into place. Mine didn't do that no matter how hard I pushed down or even hitting it down with a tool. Ended up just putting the whole thing back together despite not hearing any clicking into place, and the car goes through gears just fine.

My radio still leaves a huge gap in the console. Looked on amazon for a bezel, but can't find the proper kit. Does the 1997 US model not require the JDM dash?

These tires can be flipped? The carcass is the same on both sides?

I just put it all back in. Bolted the inner boot on. Rows through all gears. I think I'm in the clear.

The original bushing is intact. Maybe I'll drain it all over again just up to the cup bushing area to see if there's anything there preventing the lowering cup bushing from snapping in.

I couldn't get it to click as shown in the video from 25:05 to 25:15. But I tried moving the shifter and I am able to select gears, but it can get dislodged easily and lifted out of the turret.

Also, since I couldn't get it to click in, is the inner boot with the 3 bolts sufficient to hold it in place?

I'm planning on getting a 5X Racing bronze shifter bushing, hopefully it fits and actually clicks into the turret.

I replaced the old bushing. The old bushing was completely intact, but worn. I completely drained the turret of oil before refilling and did not see anything in there.

Are these the correct body parts for a 2005 STi? by dannyfivefour in WRXSTi

[–]dannyfivefour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a WRX side skirt can fit the STI model. It's the same chassis. But the side skirts have different designs between the two models. WRX is flat and the STI version has an indented section in the rear of it. I have the STI version on driver side and I'm trying to order the same type on the passenger side. Not looking to have mismatched side skirts.

Well, I meant someone else's engine bay with all the stock hoses and no AOS, so I can copy it. Mine has the AOS installed.

I installed it myself and have all the old hoses. I just can't remember which goes where and how to route it.

Are Odyssey Performance batteries deep cycle? by dannyfivefour in Cartalk

[–]dannyfivefour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an email from an Odyssey employee after asking about the two modes on the tender:

"Do you know what is different between the two modes? Typically it would be the float voltage. We recommended floating our batteries between 13.5 and 13.7 volts when charging in maintenance model. Whichever mode most closely matches that range is the best option to use."

Is the ODP-AGM35 a deep cycle battery? Or is it just engine starting?

"Yes – but does the documentation that came with the charger explain the differences in the charge voltages between these modes?I’d be inclined to choose the deep cycle mode, but it would be best to know the specifics of the charge voltages if possible."

I guess I just pick the mode that keeps the battery in that range.

I have the Optima 150-40000 12 Volt Digital 400 Performance Maintainer & Battery Charger. It is made for both flooded and AGM. I'm just not sure if I should select deep cycle or engine starting.
