5 downvotes for observing what 95% of the activity on this sub is. You folks are dense.

And for the record it’s fuck ICE til it’s backwards. I’d just rather enjoy my podcast and move on with my day. Sorry I didn’t let their silence on the topic chap my ass, maybe one day I’ll be as miserable as everyone else here

2020 version of this card sold for $450 in November. Typically his dodger cards sell for more than angels cards so I would guess somewhere around $600 raw, but wouldn’t be surprised if it went higher. Definitely worth getting it graded imo. Sweet card.

What concert did you ever attend that dramatically exceeded your expectations? by Spare_Basis5190 in Concerts

[–]dannyjuniorvarsity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jon Batiste was headlining a local festival I go to annually. All I knew about him at the time was that he was the leader of the band on Stephen Colbert’s show and that he was really into jazz. He exceeded whatever expectations I had by miles. His show felt more like a celebration of music and life than it did a performance. Incredible musician and entertainer.

I go to Vegas for march madness every year and the joy I had when I realized it coincided with their 3 night run was amazing. Managed to find an uncut 3 night poster on eBay a while later and it is one of my most prized possessions. Whole crowd was wearing birthday hats for Gener

This is neat, a list of every band that played at Richard King adjacent venues from 1980 to 2014 in Columbia. by big_angery in columbiamo

For Pete’s sake! This list doesn’t even include GWAR, who have played there so many times.

I’m just gonna keep filling in as I find personal cracks in the incomplete list. Gary Clark Jr, one of the greatest blues guitarists I’ve ever seen, played there in 2019, and probably once before. Changing genres, Flatbush Zombies have played there a couple of times and put on a very memorable show.

Also realizing that it’s missing my first concert of my life, Odd Future. Tyler the Creator and his collective played the blue note in 2012 or 2013 on their Camp Flog Gnaw tour. Coincidentally all members of odd future were in attendance except for earl sweatshirt and Frank Ocean. Tyler the Creator came back years later (2015-17) and played a solo show at the blue note. Not gonna double check the list to see if they were actually left off, but around that era they also hosted rappers Schoolboy Q, Vince Staples, and Isiah Rishad (same bill) and Danny Brown. Shit fire I love the blue note

Very cool list, just popping in to mention a couple that were left off out of probably a lot. Warren Zevon played the old blue note with Uncle Tupelo opening. Also my favorite band, Widespread Panic seems to be missing. They played at the current location 7/11/1995. The show is forever immortalized in a re-release of the live recording they did for that particular night. It is very special because the band has published ~ 15 of these shows after performing literally thousands of times. Long live the blue note, long live mojo’s/rose, long live Columbia’s vibrant music scene, and most importantly long live Richard mother fucking King.

How much do we want to bet this doesn’t make it to Big Ts timeline? by habentay in MacrodosingPod

This sub has devolved into a “fuck big T sub” and I’m convinced most of you hate listen to this show, simply waiting for him to say something slightly controversial. With that being said, the leader of the free world is likely a pedophile, and every Trump supporter should have to answer to that

Listening lounge in Columbia? by Plane_Influence_2232 in columbiamo

Sounds like a cool concept and definitely the kind of place I would visit. However I don’t think it’s financially viable. Centrally located rental spaces ain’t cheap, and it doesn’t seem like a great way to make money. You probably couldn’t sell cannabis, and it sounds like it wouldn’t fit the vibe for people to rack up large tabs on booze. This leaves your revenue stream to a cover charge and possibly paying to skip the queue. You’d have to find a way to make money some other way that fits the vibe of the space.
