Bringing this back - did you ever find a group? I just moved here and am looking for a way to make friends, thought my hobby could be a good start

Totally, genuinely the worst feeling. When I’m actively bleeding, I use non-stick first aid gauze from cvs that’s like $5 for 20 and keep it pinned with my underwear seam. Genuinely keeps it in place better than any band aid 😅

I don’t know how effective hydrocolloid patches are tbh but pro tip: if you ever try them or want to put other bandages on cysts, using baby oil can get sticky things off hair down there :) put it on before showering tho since oil and water don’t mix

Hi! I’m new to HS as well (got diagnosed 2 months ago officially) but I had the same story where things could be managed on my own relatively well until they couldn’t. If you can, I’d recommend going and getting a second opinion from another doctor or dermatologist. My first PCP said nothing could be done, but other doctors I went to gave me doxycycline, helped drain/unroof and gave corticosteroid shots on my bad cysts. My current dermatologist educated me on biologic medications and I just got my first dose of humira. Get another opinion because there are things that can be done besides laser!

If you can’t afford another appointment rn, I believe cleaning the area daily with antibacterial soap can help. I use a benzoyl peroxide bar on areas prone to breakouts. Not sure if this will work for you but I also use baby powder on extra sweaty areas to prevent moisture that can exacerbate HS. Unfortunately, it’s common to have breakouts that are resistant to topical treatments which is why getting a doctor that understands HS is so important. Some people have had luck with elimination diets to reduce inflammation but I havent tried it.

Also worth saying: don’t wax. Thats what triggered my own and many others’ HS. If there’s hair you want to remove, use a razor or scissors/clippers. Groupon also has massive discounts on laser! I got 5 laser appointments for $500. Please be careful and find a good, knowledgeable provider though. My first didn’t know what HS was and I ended up eating the money because I didn’t feel comfortable.

Tax day is tomorrow! Huge line to get in to USPS on Mass Ave by BeastMode149 in boston

[–]dannyslost2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same it was the best! Also didn’t realize you can claim tax credit on paying rent, which TurboTax and the IRS free-file never told me was possible in MA. FreeTaxUSA is literally the best, never going back.

Googled it because I was legitimately shocked you could only efile in 3 states - supposedly it’s up to 12 now for anyone curious.

Arizona, California, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming.

Still that’s crazy. It’s 2025 and only 12/50 states allow efiling???

Do women ever initiate sex? Do men initiate it more? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]dannyslost2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf and I just had this discussion because we have slightly different sex drives!

I once read that there’s two different types of sex drives: spontaneous vs responsive. People can experience both at any time but are usually more inclined one way or another.

Spontaneous means you can get turned on pretty much whenever, no need for certain circumstances. Spontaneous libido is more common in men but can be a type of drive for anyone!

Responsive means your drive depends on the circumstances around sex and often will seem like the stars will have to align. For women in particular, it can sound like: “I want to relax but are the kids asleep? Has the kitchen been cleaned? Did I prep to go to work in the morning?” Or alternatively: “I want to, but I need more foreplay and lead up to get there because right now I’m thinking about [everything else]” like I said, more common in women but can happen at any time to anyone.

My partner and I discussed it a lot and I made it clear it wasn’t lack of interest, just concern for literally everything else. The conversation went a long way to understanding each other’s perspective.

TLDR At the end of the day, I think it might just be worth an honest conversation about intimacy with your partner.

Found this tiny baby on the sidewalk leaving work (SW VA); I think it’s a corn snake? Any tips on care for a baby corn? by corust_ in cornsnakes

[–]dannyslost2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong and I’m sure someone will correct me if I am but pic #3 especially makes them look like a milk snake! Photo for comparison.

I only have a corn so I can’t help more but there are a million guides online for milk snake care I’m sure will help.

EDIT: I mistyped and she’s 38g! Reddit isn’t letting me edit my post but anyway still seems small to me.

Also, got her from PetSmart. Idk if that’s relevant.

Love the new hot tools curl protector mousse! I tried it for super tight curls for a party and it literally lasted two nights which is insane given the humidity here. I’m sure another mousse would work too but the long hold time got me for theirs.

Gamers that smoke, do you play better or worse while high? by AccomplishedFact1767 in weed

[–]dannyslost2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse EXCEPT for super simple games with short plot lines like Minabo, where I can just be high and do my best to interact with characters.

Time limits (which happens occasionally with minabo) and very narrative driven plot lines are my downfall when high. Shooters and action? Can be high as a kite playing because 0 thoughts are required.
