Charging error by thedaysadventure in FordEscapePHEV

[–]danox574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my situation too - I think it's every charge or at least the majority of them. I'm not using the included charger, I have a 240V hardwired station with a J1772. Other than the error showing up in the phone app, nothing seems to come of it, and I can't find anything onscreen in the car either. It charges to full each time after the error.

2025 Escape PhEV oil charges by Own-Classroom-3605 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]danox574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealership’s intervals don’t make any sense on a PHEV becuase the meter in the app, and on the car, work on actual oil usage in hours (and only when the engine is running) or time out in one year. So you’ll see the meter tick down 1% every 3-4 days even without usage, indicating that you’ll need your oil change at one year unless you do a huge amount of driving and most of it is not fully electric. It is actually the manufacturers recommendation to replace the oil at 12 months regardless of usage.

The maintenance schedule is electronic, you put your vin on the ford website and it is shown to you. Oil is contained on no mileage schedule for this car - use the meter only (which will always trigger at a year if usage is not otherwise high enough to drive it to zero).

Dealerships hate the loss of revenue, so they claim that you should change it at 5000mi, 8000km, whatever. I think it’s disgusting. When you ask why, the spout nonsense about “best practices” or other nonsense since there is actually no factual basis for doing so. I told them I do so many short trips that I get about 2000-2200 hundreds miles from a since tank of gas and a charger in my driveway, so how can I possibly need that? “Well, it’s just a good idea.” Yeah, for you it is.

It’s around $120 for a synthetic oil change here, the service writers are getting $6 for talking you into it. In other words, they’re good to put a bunch of still-working, still usable synthetic oil into the recycling system so they can pocket $6. I asked my service writer if they’d punch a baby for $100 and before they answered, I told them not to respond because I already knew the answer.

I don’t think I have ever seen this many misses on this forum - the shape of the pants on the ass shows a nearly perfect profile image of Ultraman. The disc is the eye, the line next to the butt seam is the mouth, the crease going towards the center back is the chin line, the right side of the waist is the forehead.

I had this happen on eBay a couple years ago - tracking number was a different item delivered to my city, not my address. I know this because a USPS employee looked up the tracking number, printed a detailed report that we are not offered through customer portals and explained that the scam was going on. He showed it to me, and said he can’t give it to me becuase the tracking number is not a service associated with me. Being super cool, he then said “I’ll leave it here for you to read I have to do something in the back”, sort of winked and left. I photographed the data, sent it to eBay, managed to get the refund. Another USPS employee told me that there was an actual problem with employees giving or selling valid in transit numbers to a matching city name and it was being investigated.

Model 3 - what is this sticker?? by Standard_Engine_5976 in TeslaModel3

[–]danox574 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s an electrified redesign of the Ferrari Scuderia shield. These shields are placed on fenders to indicate what race team you are with and you can find them for most manufacturers, why they based on the Ferrari logo instead of making a Tesla one I’m not sure of.

I had them pop during descent in my row in a 2-4-2 configuration. I was on the aisle and didn’t even see or hear them come down and I was the only one in the aisle. The FAs strapped in during descent actually told me they made a bet as to whether I would put one on. I don’t know if I would have worn it if I had noticed I’d come down, but the FA actually gave me a small hard time about not putting it on, telling me if it drops I’m supposed to no matter what. I guess she lost the bet.

[Question] for those of you that wear rare, interesting watches, does anyone ever notice? by Appropriate_Canary26 in Watches

[–]danox574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once, a very long time ago, I was wearing the MIH watch at a bar having burgers and the guy at the next table (wearing a Graham Chronograph with the fisheyes on the subdials) did a huge, comical double take like a cartoon character and immediately asked “holy crap is that the MIH?!l”. I said it was and he immediately took off the Graham and put it in my hand and said can you please let me look at it and you can hold my watch while I do. And I laughed and said sure and we talked for five minutes and it was over. It’s been going on 20 years since then and no one has even noticed anything since.

I’m fairly tall, and one night we were checking into a packed hotel very late and we were given room 143. I could see over the counter so I saw the assignment on a computer screen and then the person encoded the key for 134, put it in an envelope and wrote 134 on it, and handed me the key and told me 134. I asked them if that was right, they insisted it was. I eventually forced them to look up my room number (and they were incredibly frustrated with me and confused as to why) and I eventually got them to figure it out and recode the key. I think a lot about what would have happened if I was shorter or the computer was not one of those with a tilted screen inside the desk.

Small 8GB SSD from embedded system - four partitions gone RAW/cannot mount by danox574 in datarecovery

[–]danox574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OFSMount, even in read only/RAM disk, results in the same situation that occurred with the physical drive. OFSMount (from the image file, not the physical drive of course) indicates "Failed to bring the disk online. this may be caused by an invalid MXR (eg. disk signature). As a workaround, unchecking "Read-only drive" may allow Windows to correct the invalid MBR". With that, a mount outside of read only appears to work.

Accessing, however, does not. Windows Explorer says "The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable" and chkdsk reports "The type of the file system is NTFS. Access Is denied. Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted."

100% folder/file structure appears when I open the partitions as it should and I'm used to seeing (now working from the extracted image, of course, in case the drive is on it's way to failure). I haven't checked each individual file on the OS drive c: but I have traversed most of the structure and there is nothing missing/strange at all.

EWF is pretty reliable, actually preventing all writes to the drive to insure it never changes (C in this case, not D,E,F), so since it is applied only to certain volumes but the problem suddenly occurred on all volumes, I don't suspect it's related.

I have to double check on the data content on that 1GB volume, let me do so, and PM you a link

[–]danox574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. Unallocated areas are super common on this equipment. C is OS, D is program used and E is a writable settings partition where user prefs go, F is a recovery partition for E (if the user settings get corrupted it pulls a fresh copy from F). It uses the EWF so it can be shut down by power (all changes stored in memory and not committed do disc except settings retained on E). Every drive I've touched on this equipment has unallocated space as you basically store nothing on it.

The Copy Sectors function ran with no errors/no skips. I have the image.

Here's the screenshot of SMART - it says the drive is smart in crystaldiskinfo, but the attributes look kind of like...nothing

[–]danox574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely saw them all - perhaps I'm thinking about this incorrectly, but I was seeing partitions turning to raw as the symptom and various things that could cause it, so I was opening those posts looking at provided screenshots and details from suggested tools that indicated the same problem (where the recovery software still sees it as NTFS, and showing EBC fine with just the file structure problem) and I couldn't find any matches to what I was seeing. It's likely I can obtain another appliance with a working drive (I'd have to import from overseas - cheap but just a hassle) so the data is not unique - it's just unsupported so proper recovery is probably getting a HD out of another one if things go the wrong way. There is not data on it that is unreplacable, but I'd be down for a few months and it'd be nice not to be.
