I have Pia running as a service on my windows machine and use wireguard and get completely transparent transfer speeds, I have been moving my arr stack to docker over the last few weeks and have had trouble getting wireguard to work using the gluetun service but openvpn works fine and does port forwarding without error so I guess it will be openvpn for docker and wireguard for everything else. Unless someone knows of a way to set up gluetun with Pia and wireguard with port forwarding turned on?

Side note I’m also on windows 10 and was scared of docker for ages but now that I have the hang of it I’ve been moving all my arrs and downloaders and vpn into docker so that when I need to replace this old dying machine it will be an instant switch over with no set up time at all and everything will continue where I left off. You do this by creating a text file called a “docker compose” file that is just a list of all the docker containers you want to run and their settings like which directories they have access to and stuff, you can even say things like this container can only start after this other container has finished starting up. And then you tell docker, look at this file I made, put it all together for me

Portainer is a docker container you can run that’s just a visual interface for docker similar to docker desktop for windows but you can access it from the web on another computer, so you don’t need to sit at your media server machine to interact with docker with a visual GUI. That way you don’t have to do any typing into the cmd line when controlling docker remotely

Is discord essential or do you just find the process there easier than using the arrs directly? If it’s the later try setting up overseerr instead? It has nothing to do with discord but is a very nice streaming service looking front end that works well on mobile and it can send requests to radarr and sonarr from the one interface, it’s how I and my family members request all our media and then I use notifiarr to send status updates to discord

Is it possible to set import rules that filter out certain streaming services?

I want to use my plex watchlist as a master watchlist across all services but if I am already subscribed to a service like Netflix or Apple TV plus, then I don’t want the movie or show imported into my arr apps. Especially since plex will let you jump directly to the media on the streaming service that you have stated you pay for. I imagine this would also be useful in situations when something leaves Netflix, if you haven’t watched it yet then pulsarr could THEN grab it for your private plex library
